if you’re trying to be more creative through a tactical approach…then you probably SHOULD buy this book and get used to creativity not being tactical

Thank you for this cause I agree. Creativity is not tactical and that’s the beauty. It’s the opposite of tactical it’s spiritual and beyond mechanical processes. Now mechanical processes can aid as tools to bring the art to life . For example if your a rapper and you study poetical devices and improve your vocabulary now you have more tools and words to rhyme and get a point across but the point your conveying is feeling which isn’t mechanical or tactical. So not saying that you use processes but know that if your approaching art in a mechanical methodical way be a scientist. Lol not an artist

Yes, some creative search algorithms will be better than others for different purposes. You can start defining tactical creativity by brute forcing for solutions in a tree search and adding some randomness for filtering or selective criteria...idk ignore me.. I'm just saying a bunch of nonsense...😂

fortune cookie-esque is a terrible description for this book. the point of the book is that there isn't really tactical step by step instructions to be more creative. it is actually a very practical read and much more beneficial to anyone who wants to increase creativity

Rick Rubin literally writes at the beginning: "Nothing in this book is known to be true. It’s a reflection on what I’ve noticed- Not facts so much as thoughts. Some ideas may resonate, others may not."

Im currently reading this book and Ikigai by héctor garcía and francesc miralles. Ikigai is the japanese philosophy of living a long and happy life by finding your purpose in life. 100% recommended

Hi, If you right click on your video, there is 'Stats for Nerd' and see the volume level. -20db is way too low, maybe -1~-5db is good. Hope this helps in making your videos.

well, that is the whole thing right there! That is what the book is all about, the spiritual and filosofical aspect. That is where resides true creativity. That is why there is no method to be a pattern, you have to find your own. Everyone has its own...

I think this book should be used as a supplement to all the creative things you do daily. Maybe a chapter one evening to look at the piece from a different perspective.. Rather than a full continuous read.

I would never read a book that tells you step by step how to be creative - that would be the authors method. That's what makes RR's book a great book it's not a step by step book

I know what to expect from this book, Rubin doesn’t know anything about technical part of the music, he doesn’t play instruments that much, however he has that golden ear 👂 when he listen something really good, he know for sure - Its a hit!

That book is just repackaged New Age/ hippie “the universe will provide if you listen and if you don’t it will give your idea to another so don’t be mad and even if you get it and it sucks don’t worry because all ideas are great” bs. No one can teach you to be creative. You just be creative.

Horrible book filled with aphorisms and platitutes but no substance. It even begins by proclaiming its contents false. It's metamodern drivel at best. This book inspires nothing because it is nothing. I'd recommend something else entirely. A walk through the woods is time better spent than wasted by this sophomoric work.

With all due respect, that’s a bit harsh, isn’t it? Have u read it all? I understand what you mean about the opening of the book. He is not saying it’s false, Rubin is just qualifying his book in a humble way, stating his artistic discoveries i.e his “creative act” is but one person’s experience. But to each his own I say. Maybe you’re just not a pop-cultural person, and that’s why it seems sophomoric to you, since you’re not gleaning the deeper truths that lay in the anecdotes and aphorisms u mentioned. ✌️

It basically is a buddhist book, but it talks about "cultivating art"... though i think it is the best book that does specifically this, how to converge buddhism in arts.
