There is a debate going on from social media to offices on the statement of Infosys founder Narayan Murthy that he works 70 hours a week. Narayana Murthy had said in an interview that the youth of India should say that this is our country and we will work for 70 hours. Everyone from the youth to elders gave different reactions to this statement of Murthy. Can India really progress with 70 hours of work and the productivity of the country's youth will increase? There are many aspects to this 70 hours of work and many related questions.

NM proposing 70 hrs work week . While in his son in law's country work hours are like :Monday to Friday between 8:00 or 9:00 am to 4:00 to 5:00 pm and 1-hour lunch. Usually 8 hours a day, 40 hours a week

The countries that murthy is comparing with have a good standard of living , social benefits , retirement benefits . We get no benefits by paying taxes

The countries which Mr Murthy is speaking about is developped and have good standard of living because their forefathers in the 50's and 60's worked hard. He is requesting Indian youth to work had so that India becomes like germany , Jappan etc etc in the next 30 to 40 years. You guys dont even have to patience to listen to the interview in complete.

Corruption in the form of disinvestment , will not result in production . Its only for the rich to monopolize and buy companies cheaply . Germany produced and sold lot of its production to Europe due to geopolitics .not becos the importing countries couldnt buy it cheaper or produce it .lot of factors contribute to the growth of these countries . Also , in Japan people are over worked and family system suffers . With the amount of corruption in India , no matter how much people work , they will not get the benefit from taxes. What's stopping the govt from creating a social security system now ? Why should it wait 40 years doing 70 hrs a week?

@@madhavi2424 He is requesting youth of teh couuntry to work. Not forcing them to work. Youth include not only ENgineers, It also include doctors, nurses, entrepreneurs etc etc. He didnt say work 70 hrs for infosys, reliance etc etce. YOu can start your own company and work and make it a world class company. I think you didnt even listen to his original interview.Germany didnt seel only to Europe it sold to every country in the world including India.

Infact, the "skill" he acquired and made billions ,service (software& coding ) had made the life of 50% of our youth miserable working for clients(diffrent time-zone!) (US&europe)with diffrtent and odd timings putting their health to hazard .

I think he is referring to Japan and Germany. indian people have also sacrificed. they have fasted because their PM Laal Bahadur Shastri Ji asked them due to the scarcity of grains. but the intention needs to be clarified you want to work 70 hours but the salary should remain same. if you want just set standards like this is how much we want. and incentivize those who are increasing their productivity.

You want to work you work, Dont want to work, just enjoy your life and complain that india will never become like Germany and Japan. He never forced you to Work 70 hours. According to some world wide reports people who have long work hours tend to have problems in their personal life as they don't get to spend their time with families and friends. That creates other great problems in societies like the Japanese population.

If salary increased, it's women who will show more interest to this 70hrs work. Women will definitely start saying 'Arey yaar, instead of wasting our time with those useless boys in cafes and malls, why shouldn't we spend 70hrs a week in office and make more money yaar??'.

Before saying anything, we should ask him why. and then ask other questions depending upon the answers. First of all, we should not give platforms where these people release their opinions and leave the platform. They should have platform where thousands of youth from different backgrounds infornt of him, and all of them asked the questions to him.....Lets not waste any more time on this. In India there is already extra working hours without any pay. It is to make sure to maximize the profit. Where there should 10 people are working only 6 people do their job. If you raise your voice, you will be kick out and there will be plenty of people to replace you. Saying 70 hours working by such a senior and important person is only gives further validation to exploitation of work force by the business houses. Though they will do it for their personal profit, but now they can call it national interest.

25/11/2023: 02:57 HRS A lot of CEOs wants to work more, but silent about pay and increment. STD wrkg time is 8 HRS but orgzs hv already extended timing 9-9½ HRS. How many leaves get p/a? MNCs r closed on SATs but what about other Pvt Orgzns in India. Get no other benefits. In India employees working in Pvt Organization are the real slaves, without a chain on their neck. A Riksha puller have bargaining capacity, if he asks to 10 customers at least 2-3 customers shall pay some money extra. All Govts kept silence since independence and exploitation continuous beyond to law. Govts. think the cost of living affect only Govt. Employees and conveniently forget employees in Pvt. Sector.

Yes it was the same with Japan and Germany in the 40's and 50's. They worked hard and made Germany and Japan the way it is today. Mr Murthy is requesting the Youth {Not forcing the youth } of this country to work hard so that in the next 40 or 50 Years India is more developped than Germany or Japan. You dont listen to the complete interview just listen to 5-10 secs of the interview and start blabering.

Work for 70hrs for fixed salary is the bad CEO mentality seeking for his own benifits not the individual growth..So many people suffered because of this CEO only..cruel mentality no excuse..
