Every relationship has its own dynamic. Don't take the advice of these guys running a VERY successful podcast. If you and your partner understand each other's finances and are fine paying together then by all means do what makes your relationship great. Quick anecdote, I was working 2 full-time jobs to pay the bills. Because of that my wife did not get to spend much time with me and was unhappy. We had a serious conversation and she did not want me working so much when she was fully able and willing to pay bills. Some women value your time and love versus you just solely providing. Now if you are making enough money to pay all the bills without sacrificing time spent amongst each other, then by all means, do what works for you both but you shouldn't feel obligated to.
