This one is a request from anon on my Tumblr blog! We've been talking about the moment when any of them get angry or get protective of each other on camera and anon dropped this one out of the blue and I don't think it's in any compilation video at all. It's not that bad considered that they laughed about it a lot but there's some small tension behind it for sure. You can read the details on the link below!

The fact that she asked him if he regretted that answer it’s interesting

I feel like Shayne raises a good point here. It's essentially a cop-out to say you regret nothing because it "makes you who you are". I think if that were true, it would essentially eliminate the need for self-reflection and striving to better ourselves as people. Having regrets and ackowledging that we make mistakes is important to moving forward and becoming better people. It's a very...easy thing to say "nah I regret nothing" because that also implies that no matter what you do, you'll never regret it because it was part of what brought you to the current moment, but you should never rule that possibility out. You should always leave room for regret. Regret is good.😂

I guess it depends on how you define regret (as a wish to change your past or as an acknowledgement of what went wrong in your life).

@@samstarba4569yeah that's fair, I just think that even if you thought of it as something you wanted to go back and change, that would first have to involve the feeling of regret and emotional acknowledgement of "I regret this", but the answer of "I regret nothing" doesn't allow for any of those things to take place, you know, which is what makes it a cop-out. You're basically denying yourself the chance to feel the emotion of regret and I feel like it's burying your head in the sand if I'm being honest, which I think is what Shayne is getting at here.

I agree with Shayne here. its deffinetly a cop out answer. a big thing to mention is that regret isnt anyways about something you did. it could be something you didn't do that you wish you did. i refuse to believe in a million years that someone doesn't regret not doing something or taking an opportunity.

The point of regret is demonstrating change in yourself relative to the past. obviously you needed to make that mistake to evolve to where you are, but the point is you DO regret it. if you dont you are literally a baby in terms of morality.

@@samstarba4569 Not really. When someone asks if you would change it, they aren't asking about all the consequences and evolution up until now, they are asking whether, given the changes you should have made to yourself, would you do it again? and everyone has them.

I can't even imagine that mindset. My life is spent treading water in a sea of regret.

I can understand both Courtney and Shayne here. On one hand it’s completely natural to think that mistakes give you the chance to experience growth you otherwise might not have. Often times you don’t need to regret things as you didn’t know any better at the time. Meanwhile Shayne is approaching it from an accountability angle, not necessarily invalidating the growth you experience, but understanding when hurt/ pain was caused by your own ignorance. What that doesn’t account for is that that instance of you isn’t static, and can be improved as a way of atoning for it. Regardless of my uneducated ass opinion, it seems like they navigated that well enough to avoid a far nastier confrontation. You could cut that tension with a butter knife, lmao.

i think the tension and conflict here is on how each of them define and see regret. courtney's confession is more on individual growth and valuing onself. she regrets that she hasnt done it for herself sooner. she prob had missed opportunities from her past. in her confession, it's def okay to feel that way as it was her own past she's talking about. and shayne's point is on accountability and realizing mistakes. i kinda lean on to shayne more as i fully agree with his statement on how we need to regret so we can mature ourselves as human beings and do better. you cannot "not regret", it's inevitable and you cannot deny it how much you want to. i also get how courtney got pissed at him as shayne immediately reacted to her confession in an unserious and jokingly way that made the other crew laugh. that confession was prob way personal to her and he kinda made fun of her for that. but in my opinion, as individuals you can like regret your mistakes and at the same time see that certain experience in a better light as you move towards life with confidence. there's no need for both c and s to put a whole debate about it. its all on a difference on moral opinion in both sides. at least they're able to lessen that tension later on and get along, theyre close friends after all. courtney is def better than me when handling a confrontation as I tend to hold in a grudge towards people from my past lol.

I mean, there are easy answers to this like the regret that comes from causing pain for other people. That's the obvious regret many people have, probably everyone who isn't a psychopath. Also, it's possible to both regret and to form a healthy belief and even self-confidence out of the experience. They aren't mutually exclusive. We humies. We complex.

Having regrets is essential for emotional/mental growth. Saying you have no regrets means that you've been the exact same your entire life. You haven't changed, you haven't improved at all, you haven't become a better/more well-rounded person, you've just been the way you are since childhood. Just because you don't wish to go back in time to change what you did doesn't mean you don't regret it. Self-reflection, learning from your mistakes, growing as a mature emotionally adjusted human. That essentially requires the feeling of regret. So yeah, I get Shayne's frustration. It's literally a cop-out to say you have no regrets. Because you're either lying, delusional, or just immature. And honestly, even when she tried to laugh it off after, Courtney immediately going for Shayne's throat because he didn't believe her is kinda telling...

It's crazy that a shipping clip of two people during a games livestream invites discussions of phenology of such a loaded word as "regret". I do think Courtney is missing the forest for the trees with their answer though, yes your insecurity made you experience things you hated which contributed to who you are today. But it also made you miss out on things you should have done. And just practically? You've never had that extra piece of candy that made you sick? You never stepped in that puddle and got your socks wet? You never burned your finger trying to flip the chicken in the pan because your spatula was covered in something else? I'm just saying you're putting yourself up for failure believing every minute dumbass decision you ever made you'll remember and let it define you as a person.
