Don't worry about gray hair in your 40's. A girl I knew in high school had gray hairs peaking thru her dark brown hair then. Then there was my aunt ... with jet black hair all her life without any gray and she passed away in her 80's. I went back to my original dirty blonde during the pandemic. Put some highlights in to hide a bit of the gray but stopped about 3 months later. Not going back. I stocked up, even more so, on sock yarn. Bought some hand dyed for a pair of gift socks, then found a colourway I liked. Next week, i purchased all 3 of the summer shorties sock club thru Ancient Arts Yarns. The next day I finally found some DK wool alpaca yarn to rework a brioche project, and ended up buying 6 solid sock yarns. Like I already had enough sock yarn for a year of sock knitting!

Oh! I am not worried about going gray!!! It is just a thing! I have some shorties I really want to make! I haven't pick yarns for them yet.

I am a new knitter and have started to adjust patterns to fit my body type. It is nice to be able to do that and it really is not too difficult. I have enjoyed seeing the Spook Your Spring makes...so many fun projects.

The dress I'm designing is coming along pretty well, by the way. I am getting close to finishing my first cake of yarn on it and there's some good length to the skirt now. I'll try to post another progress photo before I join up the next cake. So much fun!

The striped cowl pooled so neatly. Reminds me of piano keys. Six new pairs of socks sounds amazing. Still need to start my first pair. 😂 As for your hair I think the light is bringing out a bit of the purple from the shampoo so yes it looks intentionally cute. For me it’s my curls that everyone assumes are permed.

I dye my own hair like 2 times a year and the rest of the time the gray is the normal. Thinking of just giving up the dyed hair completely. Sock goals after seeing your beautiful works!

I don't have a problem going gray but I used to dye my hair all of the time. I just stopped to see my natural hair.

@@kellyfazekas7831 Thank you! I don't think anyone was saying it looked bad. They just noticed it looking ashier or the color seemed to have changed. I think the gray is altering the apparent color.

Thank you. I made those eons ago in another life time! I have had a lot of time walking stores and sitting in the car with my husband when he is off work... The socks have kept my hands busy. I got up late this morning, so he had me out at the hardware store in 30 minutes. I got my 10 rows done before we were home. I loved the streak... Now that it is more gray... I may start dying it...I may not. I have always said once it is 50% gray I will just dye it lavender.

@@HappyCraftyHomemaker mine is all gray now of course. I did teal steaks for a couple of years recently. Be careful of metallic and permanent dyes it will leave a color (no telling which mine was red) that can’t be bleached out only covered up or toned down. I had no problem with semi-permanent washing out completely. I think yours looks so good natural right now!! I paid $$ back in my younger days to get those ashy blonde highlights. 😆

I think I didn't want to work on the socks because I hated working out of the bag they were in. Of course... I am back to injured now... I couldn't roll my eyes any further back in my head!

Hello Carrie,,,question. Can I mix swm yarn with swm/nylon yarn? making squares and wanted to include the yarnable that I received from your giveaway. I'm doubling the yarn as I'm using dk along with the yarnable. Thanks

Oh Yeah! Truthfully you can mix anything. You just need to care of the final project based on the most delicate fiber used.

The sweater is sooo pretty. I can relate to going gray/white. At 35 I started to gray. Began regularly coloring my hair every 8 weeks, found a true artist that was using a technique that recently got popular, but in 2021, I went on a cruise and in the pictures my roots were lighter than my hair. I didn’t want to be that lady, so I stopped coloring my hair at that point & haven’t looked back.

That sweater is really turning pretty!!! I have had my skunk streak since I was 36ish... I think the gray is just showing more now because if you look closely it is more salt and blonde now. I don't mind dying my hair, but I just stopped about 14 years ago... I bleached it and did the purple highlights to celebrate growing it to donate... grew it back out and now here we are again...
