My name is JRO Lights and I have been collecting Zippos for over 10 years. My collecting themes include: limited editions, Collectibles of the years, and any unique/ special designs.
I am not a film expert or editor, however I have a passion for Zippos and I hope to bring a variety and diverse range of Zippo information.
My mission is to bring knowledge to both new collectors and more seasoned collectors, and also bring more knowledge to myself.

EDC was a '17 polished brass Armor Case until I found a near perfect '77 brushed chrome at an antique store a few weeks ago.

Great video. I'm still using the 2022 street chrome Zippo I got from Walmart for $8 last year. Will be doing a 6 month review on how it's holding up with the rubber gasket that's been in it the whole time.

My first zippo is a Walmart 2014. Still have it and carry it everyday. I’ve exchanged it out for some others but that’s my main and probably always will be. The hinge is very loose but the ping is the loudest of my collection.

Those Walmart Zippos get a bad wrap, but as far as function it works as good as any other zippo lol.

Solid brass with a pipe insert in a leather zippo belt case. I also have a leather belt case with a zippo fluid container 👍🏻

I mostly carry my '41 rep black crackle and sometimes a '35 rep w/slashes if im feeling fancy, i lost my one and only zippo i got when i was a kid in '07 a spectrum, but ended up finding it in my car and bought those other 2 so i can leave the spectrum at home, i didnt relize how much sentimental value it had until i lost it 😅

EDC during baseball season is a 1950 line drawn baseball player with all sorts of patina. Someone loved it so I’m happy to carry it 70 years later. EDC the rest of the year is one w my name engraved on it. I have like 50 so I just pick one each week. AND I also ALWAYS carry a Zippo money clip/knife/file with my name on it. It’s my wallet.

Liquid fuel lighters do not suffer the same weakness as butane. Zippo evaporates. I've tried to slow it over the years, everything, for outdoor use. When I smoked and ZLF was $2 a can, no biggie, now its $70 a gallon or more. For outdoor use and fuel conservation I carry the Exotac Titan Light or the Solid Brass Maratac Peanut XL. VERY little wasted fuel. To EDC a Zippo? Soft flame insert, highest quality butane available. I'm not using it to death, or outdoors in the wind, rain, cold etc😂

My EDC used to be a 94 brass venetian that I was given for my 21st in 96, had to retire it as the outer barrels were becoming quite warn. I then used a plain brass for a while. That was then upgraded to the new copper with black insert. I was gifted one by a long time friend who was trying to bribe me(his words) into getting his conservatory built quicker. I was then given to opportunity to buy another at an amazing price by Alastair which is the one I use. I'm quite dropsy with my lighters so it already has a couple dings

My edc is the zippo with angels wings wrapped around the zippo with a heart in the middle Scratched the first one so I bought another to replace it for the collection So I might as well use the angel zippo double as edc even though the wings sticks out the zippo

Like any good aficionado I rotate. My current rotation is a 1997 plain brass (my primary carry for decades), a 1943-45 ww2 steel with no crackle left, a 1940 chromed brass with my initials engraved in it 80+ years ago, and occasionally a couple of others, like a plain steel Korea War era Zippo. Yellow butane is my favorite, but I often find the single blue butane to be very useful when lighting things at an angle.

I carry a 540 and put it through hell. It look as good as the day I got it bar chips on corners from huge drops onto concrete

2019 Solid Brass with a soft flame insert and a 2021 1941 Black Crackle with a Zorro steel gasket insert in brass. I recommend the Black Crackle for its un-matched durability! not a scratch on mine!

EDC is black ebony. Has held up very well. Only thing is finger marks, but they wipe off easily.

I have a Brass Armor with a pipe lighter brass in a clip on leather Zippo pouch and I have a flag with a double torch in a tactical black pouch

I'm the complete opposite to you regarding high polish red lol. I carry my brass high polish armour because I thought it would be cool to have a lighter that gets tarnished and scratched as it reminds me of everything I've gone through over time. I'm surprised how well the matte coating has stayed on your lighter. I recently bought a matte green and was worried the matte would run off

We all have our preferences! The only “issue” a matte would have is if dropped or abused it would get nicks and brass or chrome would show through. The 540’s are the most durable from what I’ve seen

@@JRO_Lights I liked the look of some of the 540’s but was worried the designs would rub off like the stickers. Seems like I will need to pull the trigger on one after hearing the finish actually stays on well! Forgot to say I love your channel and I’m subscribed and can’t wait for more videos. Only criticism is your videos are too short, I want to watch you more! Haha

Depends on how often you use them. For a regular user maybe every few days. Periodic maybe once a week. I recommend one of the butane inserts though, they last a lot longer.

First off I've used and / or collected Zippos since 1983. Not once have i or anyone I've ever met called their lighter an EDC or everyday carry. Ever. They called it a lighter or Zippo. Funny when the new kids ...the Johnny come lately types join the hobby and start with their stupid bullshit.

Holy shit. The term EDC for every day carry has been used as an accepted term for at least the past twenty years. In many different collecting genres. Gun, knives, wallets, lighters etc. I've been using the term since my early 20s. First heard it when I use to hang around with bikers in my youth. Actually that's been almost 30 years ago. Maybe some people just don't get out much anymore.✌️
