Best money ever spent, I've had sooo much fun with Opal. This update was totally outstanding and Opal-Ctrl came included as a totally unexpected bonus! Pretty much the step sequencer I was dreaming about and couldn't find. I've already bought everything Fors is currently offering, been hooked since Superberry came out. Opal felt like the sweet reward for supporting over the years. Tack så sjukt mycket Ess 👏🏻

Also, would love an option to activate scale and root note when randomizing in order to get melodies that are less abstract

Would love it if the “surprise me” allowed each individual synth/section to be locked if you get something you like and then to be able to do the “surprise me” again to only affect the synth/sections that are not locked. Would be able to build up more usable randomness. Would really like to thank you though for continuing to improve this amazing tool.

Awesome synth! I'd love to see the addition of scales and swing in a future update. I know you can add swing manually via nudge, but it would be great to have a simple swing knob like on the pigments sequencer.

Hello, first of all thank you for this brilliant app, just bought it, and i think it`s worth every penny! UI is great and intuitive and functionality is outstanding. For me OPAL is like an advanced combination of OP-Z and DFAM but in software world, which was exactly i were searching for. And of course me, and all the users of this app will be super happy, if you continue to grow OPAL in different directions, like it is now with version 1.2 In order for you to have a pleasant directions of growing, i set up a list of features, which i think OPAL needs (from ~easy todo, to hard): 1. For Opal-Ctl - Allow modulate Custom controls, even if step velocity is set to 0 (right now we can modulate steps, that have at least some velocity, which of course have a workaround, but better to have this feature as native) - this feature is for controlling effects vst`s, on the track where instrument is 2. For both Opal versions - Different sequencer pages steps length 3. For both Opal versions - Arpegiator for steps note sequencer (so not just setting note for each step, but having arpegio run for it) 4. For both Opal versions - Euclidean rhythms (somehow:))

I have stopped using all other plugins. Absolutely brilliant 👋👋👋

Loving the look of this, especially opal ctrl 💜 I’d really like a way to access the fine tuning on the randomisation. Or at least be able to lock or certain parameters out of randomisation. Not a small feature I imagine but a powerful way to build up new tracks and sounds. I really like the wiggle vs full randomisation on the sounds too. Nice way to find new variations without completely loosing the plot. Excited to see what you come up with next!

Crazy that you're not advertising that opal in now fully compatible with ableton push 2/3 1.3 update: - MPE pitch-bend compatibility for the individual devices, for use with the Live 12 tuning system or the Max for Live Microtuner device. - Push mapping for the modulation matrix in individual devices added, making them fully compatible with Push 2/3 and in Standalone mode. - Swing per track added in Opal and Opal-Ctl, adjust the percentage next to Nudge on the Nudge page to edit per-track Swing amount.

really love the instruments. The groobebox device is a cool idea but i find it a lot better to use the instruments as a drumrack and do the routing and fx and sequencing the standard way. I feel like the cpu usage goes through the roof with the device for me and something needs to be tightened up somewhere. Hope that it grows into bigger and better things - big fan! also i took apart chiral and made a standalone reverb from it - i think people would dig it as it sounds different from your other two. ALSO i hope you make some RNBO devices and get into hardware asap. Maybe push3 will support standalone software devices ;)

Just got it a few days ago and it’s absolutely gorgeous sounding and fun to work with. One question: is it possible to record automation in the sequencer via midi controller or just mouse editing? Instead of doing 16 different parameter locks. I can’t seem to figure it out.

hey! I would like to ask you guys if there is possible for opal to create "trigless trig", just the parameter lock for every step, but no midi signal sending out? (for both opal, and opal-Ctl)

Is it possible to copy/paste individual sequences between patterns on the same track? Doesn't seem to work, but I might not be doing it right. Might be hard (or impossible) in Max/MSP, but copy/pasting sequences or patterns between different instances of Opal in the same project would also be a nice to have feature. Or being able to copy/paste between instances Opal and Opal-Ctl. Great work so far on Opal. I've stayed clear of DAWs for a few years, but Opal (and VideoSync) have pulled me back in :)

have a question for you guys, sometimes when i click “open editor” it doesn’t open right away and i’m left waiting 4-5 min+ for it to open. i’ll click it for nothing to happen then continue working on a track just for it to randomly open some minutes later. any fix for this as it is my main frustration for what is my favorite device i’ve ever bought. thanks for any help, this issue is happening more and more frequently

Just bought this great max for live device and I’m loving it. But I have two questions though. My opal and all the modules are separate. So I have to open an instance of gem etc next to it. And I can make opal itself any bigger. I’m on a Mac and Ableton.

There is one problem with this sequencer making the step very unique shaping the sound and settings on the step. but I can't copy it to some next beat. That is, I cannot copy the properties of step 8 to another step. To repeat this, I need to lock 100 parameters per step again! It's an elephant-sized problem
