Gorgeous page! And yes, this video was very helpful. I struggle with anxiety, depression and fatigue too and I find it a huge inspiration killer. I can sit behind my art table for hours doing nothing. Just pulling one journal after another, going through inspirational magazines, looking on Pinterest... The problem might be I get stuck in my head too much. I always tend to overthink everything, but on bad days my overthinking paralysis me. I find it even more admirable you started with an illustration on your bad day. But you're very right! You need to show up. Inspiration has to find you creating 😊. I've been watching two long videos by you while coffee dying the pages in my journal. Now I feel up to doing some illustration 😊 I also love how much you show and share how your pages are done, technical wise. You're very generous when you share that kind of information. I've been in paid classes that share less. So a big thank you for all you put out there!

This was incredibly helpful! I am new to art... paper crafting... drawing, so your comment of Show Up.. speaks to me. Glennon Doyle Melton gave a TED talk once and through all of her stuff... and it was serious stuff... she came to the realization that she had to show up and do the next right thing. That speaks to me so often... even though our stuff may be different really all we have to do is "Just Show Up and Do The Next Right Thing! " Be well my friend!

Thanks, Courtney, for letting us in when you felt down. Days like that are so hard to get going on. I really needed your reminder to start light and gently add layers to build up dark areas. Sometimes, I get impatient and heavy-handed. This is one of the best pieces I've seen you do! I love all of your line work, and those colors are to die for. (I made two Nook Dwellers, this week, and made sure to credit you as my inspiration, in my journal.)

Also explaining your techniques, use of mediums, and brand of same is extremely helpful. Today was my first time developing little creatures and I so enjoyed it. I can see I have layers and layers to learn and apply and I am looking forward to it all. Blessings.

Hi I found your channel for the first time today. I'm so very impressed by what you shared from start to finish. I'm not an artist, I've never tried doing anything more than little sketchy "illustrations", but am very interested in trying. I think you did a fantastic job explaining your process, your 'methods' (only word I could think of to replace 'techniques'!) and the reasons behind the page in the first place. I can very much relate the to feelings you described. I, only recently, discovered how therapeutic it is to watercolor on days that I'm struggling. Mind you, for me, watercoloring is merely laying paint on the paper and watching the paint move and do it's thing. I'm excited to see more of your videos. I think I might just pick up a pencil and give this drawing thing a try! 😀
