Dreams are confusing. Some people believe they can tell the future, others feel they are just a way for our brains to remember our past. Whatever you think about them, dreams shouldn’t be that confusing, right? I mean, after all, our brains are the ones creating them. So why are they also simultaneously being surprised, entertained, confused and scared by them? Like one half of your brain is creating a short film for the other half to watch.

(Apologies for length. Just thorough with my thoughts.) I've been an insomniac that has vivid lucid dreams pretty much every time I sleep ever since I was around twelve years old (I'm 35). My first lucid dream was a crash course in how I could feel everything, I was aware and could control myself, and I had no control over anything else. I was tied down to a stone slab and vivisected by a group of strange people under a purple clouded sky. The hollow feeling of my organs being removed is cemented in my memory. I woke up crying and screaming into my pillow. I've died so many ways, nothing surprises me anymore. I've lived in places different than here with dreams lasting for days, weeks, months, some even a few years in sleep time. I wake up and see that I've only slept for 10-20 minutes. Time skips sometimes and memories flood to fill the gaps, only to fade away over time after waking until something kicks-off a memory recall and I'm hit with nostalgia. I miss a lot of them and wish I could revisit. I get they're just dreams, but it hits the feels when I see someone that looks exactly like a person I knew in one, knowing it's not them and never will be. It's like having loved ones, friends, family, that pass away, and every once in a while you see someone that resembles them enough that a moment of excitement jolts through you, but then you remember and it sinks. My thousands of little lives lived in 23 years. I feel so damn old. If there was an afterlife, I'd want to be able to jump between them and relive each properly as its own pocket universe. That would be the happiest thing for me.

Good news, you will/already have lived all of those lives. You are just re-remembering them in your dreams. If you want to stop dreaming smoke weed if it's too much to handle. I never dream if I've smoked

@@eyalbar5646 (Just got up from a string of forces naps to fight a migraine. Mmm coffee for coherence) There's things to hate and love with them, so swings back and forth from 50-50 to 60-40, but that's just me. Other people might like it more than I do. And the dream that strung along with the naps, I was assisting some cop as a public case worker among other things, helped bring in a woman (assigned) who missed a court date. Most of it was getting her and her four year old daughter settled into housing and building trust. (Dreams aren't all grand adventures and horror. Most are significantly more mundane and out there, but still a new experience.)

@@WILLed_into_Existence Sadly, I used to smoke more often when I was younger. Tried it again multiple times within the last few years. I live in WA where recreational use be legal =) It just makes the dreams muddled and more hectic, IF my panic attacks go away. When I was younger I could relax, but after I was caregiver for mentally ill family members for a few years it left some PTSD and deep rooted fears of losing my mind and not being me anymore. Not being able to think rationally or clearly gives me anxiety and panic attacks. At this point i feel like I'm the grand central station of "wtf else is wrong with me" xD

I've died in dreams before and not woken up. Usually what happens is that I just go to a new dream. One particular one I remember was that I was in a subway station I've never been to. It was open but not too busy. I was chasing a bad guy, I found him running up the stairs, so I chased him and the guy pulls a gun and shoots me in the head point blank. I "wake up" in my dream. I'm in the same station, but this time it's closed and all the lights are off. It's also dusty and musky, like an "upside down" version of it. But somehow I knew I was in the same station, but I was sent back 3 days in time to try again, and this time, I was given the powers of Thor. I did wake up for real though before I could continue my search. Another time I died was simpler. I fell off a cliff, hit the bottom, lights out. Immediately a new unrelated dream began. I remembered both when I woke up, but I now only have a hazy recollection of them. I will say this. One of my favorite dreams was that I was in a small town but not as a person, rather as a disembodied entity, I had no control or say on anything, but the small town police had just solved a crime, and the entire town was happy, the end, and I even got closing credits with a nice 70's style ballad (Think the Taxi theme). That dream got full closure before I woke up, it was amazing.

Destination known, my mind's journey now begins. Upon my chariot, heart and soul's fate revealed. In Time, all points converge: hope's strength, resteeled. Regarding dreams: I have the same experience every time I sleep in a cold room. I am always trying to, or in the process of, buying the dr-ug mephedrone, aka bath salts. It's strange because I have not even been around the substance for over a decade, during which I've had far more potent addictions (thankfully clean now), but those never appear. And I don't dream about mephedrone in temps above 70°. There is always a woman in it, but the specific events change every time.

I had a lucid dream the other night where I moved into a new neighborhood* with people I'd never met before. I became good friends with one of them (I recognized him as someone from the summer camp I went to this year) and I felt like I had friends for the first time in over 4 years. Once I became lucid, we had a good conversation where I floated on some stick I found near his house, but when he left, I flew upwards to get a better vantage point of the area... and the dream faded away. So long, friend. *The physical description of the neighborhood: WinCo + Hacksmith Industries + a community park + a futuristic school + Starbucks. And all of it was located in one of my old bedrooms from 6 years ago.

The reason why we don't see smartphones in our dreams is because when we're using it, we're not thinking about the smartphone, we're thinking about the person or material we're interacting with and not thinking about the gadget itself its pretty obvious. On the other hand we tend to see a smartphone or gadget in our dream when we get it as a gift or find it or something that makes us actively think about the device itself. Dreams are philosophical, poetic and almost never practical.

The thumbnail is explainable. Our body evolved so as to help us with one eye closed. When we close one eye, the brain shuts off its sensors for that eye completely, meaning that it doesn't acknowledge the black space either, fully focusing our vision in the open eye. When we close both eyes, the brain turns off the sensors for both eyes, leading to blindness.

10:02 I have had something like this for way too long, im gonna share it here So the ocean is soup, it has meat, water, veggies, and salt, Cereal is techically a soup, as a soup is a liquid dish that comes from animals, that usually has chunks in it, Nacho chips are usually corn based, and cheese is milk based, making Nachos a cereal, making them a soup, if A=B and C=B then that means that the Ocean is Nachos

4:48 English used to have letters we no longer use, such as thorn (þ), eth (ð), eng (ŋ), wynn (ƿ), yogh (ȝ), ash (æ), and ethel (œ), so not everything written in English used only the 26 characters of the modern alphabet. You could say Ben Franklin had a precedent for removing hard to pronounce letters from the alphabet.

5:46 Teeth are actually not part of the skeleton. They are what is called an ectodermal organ, or an organ that functions outside the body such as hair, (external) skin, salivary glands, and sweat glands, (I’m pretty sure fingernails as well). This misconception comes from that fact that both bone and teeth are white, hard, and have calcium. Instead of an external bone, teeth are just white chomping organs.

I actually often have a smart phone on me in my dreams, which is odd because I really don't spend much time playing with mine in waking life. I'll turn the thing off for days at a time if circumstances permit. It's a total nightmare to try to operate one in a dream though. Forget light switches or reading or throwing a punch with noodle arms - smart phones are the devil in dreams. What works better than trying to navigate the screen is to use voice command. The input and output is far easier for your brain to parse than simulating a visual interface that actually works. Results, of course, vary wildly, but every so often I can get someone on the horn, which is a novel experience since 9 times out of 10 it results in you teleporting to where that person is.

Dreams , i think are like, different conclusions our brain comes up to by calculating all our actions + our desires amd fears included. While awake, all our senses are on work and we aren't good at multitasking and hence we don't think much of it when awake. But when we are sleeping, our mind is alert and can focus on one activity without any interruptions. Probably that's why we get more than 10 dreams everynight (who knows how many, since we can barely remember even 2-3 precisely). Well, that's what i think atleast it could be...

I actually had a dream that continued post death. I fell from a tree and realised "this is it, the end of a dream" I hit the ground with a loud CRACK I did not wake up There was no black No end I lay there, my spine broken and brain spilling put my skull... Yet I was there No pain Just... Existence I was trapped in a limp corpse I stayed like that for 5+ minutes Then finally woke up

@@k8rlos yeah it was pretty cool, I went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror and realized I didn't have my beard. I had long hair and almost looked like a modern day Jesus in facial features.

Being in the moment, or what is called Mindfulness and Presence takes practice. Your analysis is proof your mind is conditioned to stimulus, like basically everyone else. Thoughts can be conditioned, when that happens, it becomes very difficult to observe your thoughts without being them and it takes monumental practice to be able to break from this way of thinking.

I once had someone told me that a person that cannot see/completely blind does not see black or darkness. They see nothing. And the closest way to imagine this is to close one eye and try seeing from that closed eye. That’s apparently the closest way we can experience total blindness from birth. The concept is also kinda similar to colorblindness. And it’s been keeping me up at times.

Imagine someone blind from birth is gets sight. They wouldn't be able to recognize anything and their sight would be completely useless for them during at least the first months. May be they wouldn't even know how to focus on the objects they want to look at

Alcohol stimulates you (at least for a while) due an effect called paradoxical disinhibition PDI, in which some neurons are stimulated by neurons which are inhibited by other ones, the later being inhibited results in the overstimulation of the middle ones resulting in stimulation of the many pathways, but then the entire system is inhibited by many different pathways resulting the depression that comes a while after alcohol consumption.
