This week I install the shower glass panel. This can be a little scary as you have to drill through your tile, but once you are through that part it is easier than you think! You need to screw a few metal supports to your wall and floor to support the glass. Then you can drop in the glass, add the other side of the supports and you are all done!

Personally, I wouldn't have anchored into the curb if I were installing a small panel, I'd use 3m dbl sided tape on bottom along with applying silicone around perimeter. The weight of panel will support the glass, and showers are for relaxing in, if you feel you need to get a little more aggressive in the shower, use the tile wall, or lower niche! 😉 JMO.. for me

That’s a fair point. This was my first glass panel install so I wanted to be more safe than sorry. I made sure use an ample amount of silicone too. The uneven tile surface also made it difficult to use any other method of securing it besides anchors

Im looking for a KZfaq tutorial without screwing into curb. Planning on screwing the wall brackets with some silicone inside, but know not to penetrate my schluter curb. If you see a tutorial with it done this way please send me the link!!!!

Good idea with the tape. I have an issue with the screw heads not being flush with the bottom rail when installed. The glass is really setting on the scree heads….

Installation of similar panel calls for applying silicone along the inside of the brackets before affixing the glass

Did you put down setting blocks in the track under the glass? You could have adjusted for the wall and the curb not being 90*.

It was extremely close and I think the culprit was the textured tile. It has many undulations making it hard to level it out. Some setting blocks probably would have helped though!

Hello thanks for your video, question What size did you get and is that size big enough to keep the water in the pan? Because that’s my fear after installing then find out that’s is a lot of water out side of the shower lolz 😅

Did all the plastic seals, casing, and screws come together in the same package from Allmodern? I’m looking at buying a similar set up. I’m worried about not having everything for my install. (Not including tile drill bits/ silicone)

What size drill bit is this for the screws the come with the glass? Just bought the same unit but instructions show 5 different drill sizes and we don’t have all those bits

Did the screw heads get even with the bottom rail, or is you glass really just sitting on the screw heads. The metal rail is not chamfered for the screws provided.

The heads got pretty flush but not all the way. There is a plastic seal that goes around the glass so the metal screw is not in direct contact with the glass

Is the bottom piece board or concrete structure why never put up two pieces of shower glass instead of one

Check out the earlier episodes. It is a kerdi curb. And I prefer not having to open and close a door every time I get in the shower and it saves a ton of money too

I believe the glass is 36"x72". We really don't have much water get outside the shower besides a little mist which is soaked up by the bathmat

Do you find the screen sufficient for preventing water getting out when you shower?

Yes it prevents 99% of the water getting out. A small amount of mist gets beyond it but we have a bath mat there anyway so there is no water on the floor after a shower

It’s about 6 feet wide and yes it does. There’s a little mist that goes barely outside but the floor mat just absorbs it. It’s quite minimal

I have found a 48" tempered glass panel to buy. It has no notches or cut outs or anything, just a plain glass panel. Do you think I could DIY a shower screen by buying my own hardware/screws/casings/etc. (basically everything that came in your kit)? Any advice when looking for what to buy?

Hey ! Is it stable without eny anchor on the corner at the top ? I am hesitating to have one anchor or not in mine

Are you referring to the top right corner? If so, it is plenty strong on its own. Some people add an additional support from the ceiling but with this particular glass panel it is not necessary. I would make sure you are screwing into a stud in the wall to secure the left side of the panel though

Great question! I was a bit worried that might happen, but that was the widest glass panel I could find. In the end, it was not a big deal. There is a bit of mist that falls just outside the shower but it's not enough to pool or anything. We also have a bath mat right there which pretty much soaks up any water in the area anyway. I would still design the shower this way even knowing what I know now as I prefer the no door design

@@GoldenKeyDesign I recently had one of these installed by some contractors that redid my bathroom. It looks so amazing, but I’m getting some water on the outside of the panel that seems to be hugging it and running towards the wall. Like you said, it’s really not much, but enough to have to put down a couple towels every shower. Any suggestions?

@@Mikeypurp I would make sure the glass has a nice bead of silicone around its perimeter to make sure it's water tight. If that's not the problem, I would put a bath mat down to help with water absorption. Does the shower have a curb? or it is curbless? If it does have a curb, I don't see how that much water could be getting outside the shower

ok, i dont see any tanking/water proofing behind your titles, MR plasterboard is not enough really, but and if there is any, you have just punctured it with your screws!

I used schluter kerdi membrane and did an overnight water test. Go back and watch the earlier episodes in the series. The screw holes were filled with silicone so the shower is still water tight 😁
