They also sound very good despite their size and their clean as well. They’re also a 4 year old program that needed the funds…. JSU did good too but Nothing wrong with giving another band their props

They can keep these corporation type HBCU BOTB events. You make a band travel hours for a 10 minute field show and ONE song in the stands…pointless. I hope JSU and NCAT did a parking lot battle at least because that’s a battle right there!

We don’t do gym battles. Enclosed spaces have the sound bouncing back from the rafters. We take it outside so there’s no confusion to dexterity, power, & prowess of sound.

HBCU bands are to varied to be judged from an unbiased standpoint. Core Style/ DCI bands all have similar styles so it’s very easy to judge those contest. JSU nor SU have flag girls, a lot of East Coast bands don’t do 8 to 5, or patterns in motion drills, FAMU doesn’t have dancing girls, so how do you judge that from an amateur unbiased standpoint. ESPECIALLY…. when they didn’t give the bands a scorecard before hand. Come on now, let’s be real.

An unbiased review. I'm a BOOM fan forevèr!!! I went to rep Da BOOM!!! I ended up on NCAT's side with my Jackson apparel! Lol. So i saw NCAT's performance from their side. First time seeing them in person and i was impressed. I KNEW Jackson was going to have competition in the end because of NCAT's field show. Showtime was on Jackson's side so his video isn't the greateset to judge NCAT and that's what a lot of critics are doing. Seeing them from the right view, they were phenomenal and I don't say that often. Jackson is normally the only band I say that to.. hence, this unbiased comment! Both bands are different and both great at what they do. Jackson is KNOWN for stand battles. NCAT, for field shows. Based on the field show, NCAT won. Its NOT only about musicality and that's what my fellow band heads keep basing it off of. NCAT had to much more to offer than Jackson did on the field. The girls did more than just dance...batons...fĺags...COLOR...different looks, etc. The drumline had a feature. And the band sounded well!!! It was a full balanced sound. You don't get to hear it fully from showtime's video. If there was a stand battle, I believe 100% that Jackson would win thay. NCAT would put up a fight, but that's Jackson's strong point. Now i watched Showtime's video of Jackson's performance. Boy did they put on a SHOW!!! I was thorougly impressed. But remember, for a full competition, NCAT brought more than what Jackson offered. Look at it from that standpoint. Its about more than musicality. That just one part of the score.

Was at show. Bands weee great. Event will ger better if continued. Event coordinators. 1. You can sell out rhe Benz. The Celebration Bowl doesnt do that. Only sell tickets for one side and have all attendees in the same area. 2. Have all bands play to the same side. It will be more effective. The Benz is too large for ppl to be scattered everywhere. 3. Make the price affordale for people to want to pay the money. 4. More than 4 bands are needed to attract a greater audience. All bands did a great job. BOOM is on a different level.

Respectfully, this was probably one of the worst events held ever. The fifth quarter was only supposed to be 1 song each, and they aren’t announcing winners until the Celebration Bowl tomorrow. Which keep in mind, none of these schools are in/attending.

Yall don't understand all the preparing and signage they have to put up for a nationally televised game the next day, including painting the team names on the field. Additionally, events have time frames. And often times they charge the promoter for going over the alloted time for that event. Time is money.

The house videos and the announcers were talking over each other. The bands were not allowed to crank for a real 5th quarter battle. This was ended weird….to get ready for the game on Sat. These schools came to show whose best and were not allowed to and the fans paid for a show and didn’t get their monies worth. Needs to be restructured next year! The bands performed on different sides of the field. This should have been like the Bayou Classic BOTB where the bands perform on one side and the fans are only on one side of the stadium.

Nah, J SETTES are the queens of stands because their stand routines have not be touched, SCREAM, KINGS AFFIRMATION ETC.

@@dripsipp You named some great routines by the JSettes, but I must say GD made the stand routines popular because it's mostly what they do coming from the meac and even now that they are no longer in the Meac. The SWAC teams seem be getting more into stand routines these past few years, but if you have ever watch GD over the years at least the past I'll say 10yrs, they have a stand routine for damn near every song their band plays. It's one of their strong suits. It's two dynamic dance groups with two different styles.

@blkplaya9891 I second this! GD have always been big on stand routines. And they do it effortlessly! Now more and more SWAC teams are doing stand routines. That has been a GD staple atleast the early 2000s!

This was a waste of an event. A real BOTB would’ve been blow for blow. Smh that’s why ticket sales were so low. They should’ve let NCAT and JSU go head to head.

Alot of yall need to get out your feelings and bias. Every band did an amazing job. Field shows are A&Ts bread and butter and what they do best so that was going to be hard for JSU to beat. Just like JSU has murked everyone in the stands. Thats where they shine. Give each band props and move on. Yall arguing like the results give change and yall on pay roll

Whew boy this event was….something else (even tho I didn’t went to the event) If I was there I would’ve request for a refund cuz like what 😂. I feel like they should’ve just have the event earlier time imo then it would’ve save time for to clean up the stadium on Saturday ig 🤷🏽‍♀️
