Meaning of the stotra : -
न मेरे पिता, न माता, न पुत्र, न पुत्री, न बंधु , न दानी व्यक्ति,
न नौकर, न पति, न पत्नी, न (सांसारिक) ज्ञान, न मेरा व्यवसाय,
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति (आध्यात्मिक उत्थान की गति) हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
संसार के इस अथांग सागर में, मैं दुःख से भरा हुआ हूँ और बहुत भयभीत हूँ,
मैं अत्यधिक इच्छाओं और लालच से लिप्त हूँ,
मादक पदार्थों का सेवन करता हूँ,
और हमेशा इस बुरे संसार के बंधन में बंधा हुआ हूँ।
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
न मैं दान करना जानता हूँ, न ध्यान-योग
न मैं तंत्र-विद्या जानता हूँ, न भजन-पूजन,
न मैं पूजा जानता हूँ, न योग-तंत्र ।
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
न मैं पुण्य जानता हूँ, न तीर्थयात्रा
न मैं मुक्ति-मार्ग जानता हूँ, न तल्लीनता,
मैं न तो भक्ति जानता हूं, न ही व्रत ।
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
मैंने बुरे कर्म किये, मैं बुरी संगति में रहा, बुरे विचारों को पाला,
मैं एक बुरा सेवक रहा, मैंने अपने पारंपरिक कर्तव्यों का पालन नहीं किया,
मैं बुरे आचरण में डूबा रहा, मैंने बुरी दृष्टी से देखा, जीभ ने हमेशा बुरे शब्द बोले ।
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
मैं ब्रह्मा, विष्णु, महेश, इंद्र, सूर्य, चन्द्र को नहीं जानता ।
मैं अन्य देवताओं के बारे में भी नहीं जानता, परन्तु मैं सदैव आपके शरण में रहता हूँ।
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
हे माता भवानी, विवाद और निराशा तथा गलतियां या मूर्खता करते समय, कृपया मुझे बचाइए।
परदेश में, जल और अग्नि में, पर्वतों और पहाड़ियों में, वन में, शत्रुओं से, कृपया मेरी रक्षा करें।
हे माते, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
मैं असहाय; दारिद्र्य, बुढ़ापे और रोग से पीड़ित, अत्यंत दुर्बल और दुःखी, निष्क्रिय, फीका, टुटा हुआ,
सदैव संकटों और दुःखों से घिरा और खोया हुआ हूँ।
हे माता भवानी, तुम ही मेरी गति हो, केवल तुम ही मेरी गति हो ।
(गति = वेग, दिशा, मार्ग, प्रगति, लक्ष्य)
Neither the father, nor the mother; neither the son, nor the daughter;
neither the servant nor the husband; neither the wife, nor the (worldly) knowledge;
neither my profession,
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent (speed required for spiritual growth) , You Alone are my ascent.
In this ocean of worldly existence which is endless,
I am full of sorrow and very much afraid,
I have fallen with excessive desires and greed, drunken and intoxicated,
always tied in the bondage of this miserable samsara (worldly existence),
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
Neither do I know charity, nor meditation and yoga,
Neither do I know the practice of tantra, nor hymns and prayers,
Neither do I know worship, nor Yoga.
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
Neither do I know virtuous deeds, nor pilgrimage,
I do not know the way to liberation, and the way to absorb you,
I know neither devotion, nor religious vows.
Nevertheless, Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
I performed bad Deeds, associated with bad company,
cherished bad thoughts, have been a bad servant,
I did not perform my traditional duties,
deeply engaged in bad conducts,
my eyes saw with bad intentions,
tongue always spoke bad words.
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
Little do I know about Shri Brahma, Vishnu, Mahesh,
Indra (the Lord of the devas), Sun, Moon
I do not know about other Gods, but always surrendered to You.
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
During dispute and quarrel, during despair and dejection,
during intoxication and insanity,
in foreign land, in water and fire, in mountains and hills,
amidst enemies, in forest, please protect me,
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
I am helpless, poor, afflicted by old age and disease, very weak and miserable,
always with a pale countenance, fallen asunder,
always surrounded by and lost in troubles and Miseries,
Oh Mother Bhavani, You are my ascent, You alone are my ascent.
