I used my embossing tool or heat gun to shrink the plastic to create these little charms. TFW, Sara

I love the green butterfly too! WOW! I know they say that the color darkens when you shrink them. Very interesting video. Most of the ones that have used the heat gun are a little less aggressive about applying the heat to the item. They kind of sneak up on it from the outside edges and then get to the middle. It was good to see how much the punched out hole for the jump ring shrinks also. Thanks for sharing this!

In case you are still playing with your shrinky dinks.... The black ink is smearing from being over heated, at least that is what I have found. The bumpy texture just means you need to apply a second coat of the UTEE, keeping an eye out for over heating. I love the glitter pens you used ! Beautiful work for just playing...!

Do you put the UTEE on before or after baking the shrinky dinks ?

The underground you use for Baking or Heating them can be the issue for the Bumpy look. I figured out to heat them (i always Make them ) and flatten them immediately helps a lot. course they might come out a little bit wavy but i flatten them one with a not clean surface tool and the actually took the pattern from the tool. When they stick together i alway use a chopstick to get them away from each other, also i like Baking them because they shrink more symmetric. Some Links are not Heat Proof, also some Sharpie , Colors always gets darker while Baking, frosted Paper i found is the best for colour Pencils, sleek Paper is good for Sharpies but you can smear it when it hasn't tried.(sorry if i made some mistakes i'm not a native speaking, i learned english as second language in school)I myself always have trouble with Mod Podge dimensional Magic, because it's getting cloudy after some days and ruins my work :/

I love shrink film, I make a ton of shrink items, I use my stamps and staz on inks, my favorite way to color them is with colored pencils, to prevent curling you can lay a piece of paper over the top while baking.

love these, suggestion: color it before you cut it out so you can touch a corner so you are less likely to smear it.

Hello there if you add more embossing powder it will smother out.. Add more cotes until you get the look you want

I've always used Ranger's shrink film. I'll shrink it by dipping it into my melting pot with clear or colored Utee. Always comes out beautiful and glossy. If it happens to curl a bit, I dip it back into the pot to straighten it out.

I love shrink film too Sara! I have always gotten a better, flatter result in my toaster oven. give that a try maybe. I'll be looking forward to more results!

Also they will turn out flatter and less bumpy if you bake them in an oven, you can always use a toaster oven and not your kitchen oven and I like to use a lower temp. be sure to place them on a non stick surface, I use a "baking board" but have used a ceramic tile dusted lightly with cornstatch and that tile is placed on an old cookie sheet

I did these years ago for a craft show I didn't have embossing heat guns back then so we put them in the oven on a cookie sheet they came out real little and straighter with no bumps. you might try using your oven if you have a craft oven for your clay you could use it. I love doing them I am getting my shrink stuff out and trying the mandalas of Barbs I did buy her download and they are great. You are so inspiring.

+Nancy Vastine Hi, They even say heat guns on the directions now. I haven't used the oven yet But I warped my cutting mat with the gun so I will be using the oven next time. Barb Owen always inspires me too, TFW, Sara

I been playing around with shrinky stuff as a kid and glad it is still around but I use the same brand as you and I put mine in either a toaster over or over and always they come out to perfection I never have wonkly, lumpy anything, maybe the heat gun isn't giving it the right heat temp all over and I don't have to place anything over it it flattens out perfectly..Just my exspierance

thanks for sharing this. Got lots of tips but yeah shrinking the film with a heat gun is a bit frustrating and needs practice. I use parchment / tracing paper so it won't stick to paper.

where can I find a source of art to trace on my shrink plastic? Everything seems too large or too small for this.
