It's awesome that guys are getting out there and catching these amazing fish. Guys, please keep in mind that others use the wharfs for their daily commute. The other day I was at a Wharf and it was a disgrace! Line, hooks, rubbish, fish scales, the wharf floor stained with bait and God knows what. The last thing we want is the fisheries to ban us from fishing off these wharfs. Please take a little extra care, respect the area you fish and show some Fisherman etiquette. Let's do better. People wonder why and complain about the fisheries constantly bringing in strict rules and ban fishing in spots. Happy fishing.

Good comment, sometimes I feel like shouting across the wharf when I notice the state of the place. I'm always worried about people leaving hooks behind and the general public getting that stuck into them and injuring themselves. All we can do is set a good example by cleaning up afte ourselves and spreading the message

There's a trick with toothpicks to use on livies to cast much more reliably.. I'll fill you in with the finer details if you are interested shroom 🤙

Thanks Fred! I've been using 2 hooks a bit more recently so the top one is more embedded toward the tail which can take a bit more of the hook. I've not heard of the toothpick method at least I don't think I have, sounds interesting

@@ShroomFishing Use a razor blade to cut a toothpick in half or even thirds lengthways, next you need a super sharp thick gauge hook ( i use a mustad 6/0 hoodlum ) and make a tiny hole with the hook point near the front of the dorsal fin ( or wherever you intend on pinning the hook in the bait ).. Next feed the half toothpick just under the skin towards the tail. When you snick the hook through your livie make sure to send the bend under the toothpick, it will allow you to cast and retrieve the yakka or whatever you're using without it coming off as the toothpick acts at a strut or brace. I've also found my hook up rate increased after using this technique as the livies stay on the hook after a first inquiry a lot better too .. I hope all that made sense! Tight lines mate 🤙

Shroom! Can you run thru how you setup bait on rod when it's on the ground? Do you loosen the drag by alot then tighten when there's a hookup?
