@@foresthill8462 Right you are. I tried locating it there too but to no avail. My hunch is this is a Jaipur bandish, which means BSJ may have got it from Kesarbai. Need to get the lyrics from a Jaipur guy ig.

This darbari remindes me the Lahore Lal Fort Shish mehl, We daily use to go there and i used to listen the Raag Darbari by Nazakat Ali Salmat ali 1956 uploaded by Subrata Chouwdry... Same feeling i am feeling here, Same night darkness, Same tanpura sound, same tabla, Same lonliness, same mind feelings... I am totally unexpressable here.... I will say only one world... I can feel the Empror time...

I have reverentially heard this rendition so many times and it brings me so much peace! It is amazing how many times Bhimanna attempts the sargam that Abdul Karim Khan Saheb sang in his famous LP recording of the same Jhinjhoti thumri. Each time he tries it, he sounds beautifully complete yet one can sense his wanting to sing that sargam just like his dada guru and arrive at sam at the end of it. Having tried more than five times through this rendition before this point to no avail, he finally seems to get it at 1:05:43. In the bargain, listeners like us get a sargam feast! So much to learn from this unwavering resolve of this genius!

Too small to say anything, but, while listening to the dhrut, felt like ,it’s Maharana Pratap, riding his beloved horse, with full confidence. Sincere Namaskar.

Thanks for the upload. This again is very nice. I have one Shuddh Kalyan of around same time s accompanied by Dhalya (kharja) Tabla, which sounds as if a Saint is singing and bhakta have gathered there in evening in a village set up..

उस्ताद अब्दुल करीम खां साहब की राग झिंझोटी की इस ठुमरी की वजह से भारत को पंडित भीमसेन जोशी जैसा दैदीप्यमान स्वर भास्कर संगीतज्ञ मिला... पंडित भीमसेन की आवाज में इसे सुन कर उनके स्वरों के रियाज करने के ढंग और उस्ताद अब्दुल करीम खां साहाब के सुरों के नजदीक तक पहुंचने की उनकी कोशिष में अपने उस्ताद के उस्ताद की नकल करने जैसा भाव कहीं नहीं झलकता... किसी भी उस्ताद के लिए इससे बड़ी बात कुछ नहीं हो सकती की उनका शागिर्द उस्तादों से चार कदम आगे बढ़कर नाम रौशन करे... किराना घराना का सौभाग्य है कि सवाई गंधर्व जी ने अपने हर शागिर्द को संगीत में अलग अलग अंदाज से एक ही स्वर शैली का प्रतिनिधित्व कैसे करते हैं यह सिखाया... वो भी बगैर किसी भेदभाव के चाहे वह पंडित भीमसेन जी हों या सुश्री गंगू बाई हंगल हों या फिर उस्ताद फिरोज दस्तूर साहब हों सब सूर और ताल के पक्के तो थे ही... सबका सूर लगाने का अंदाज निराला और अपना खुद का था... मगर सब एक ही स्वर शैली के पुजारी थे... 🙏

Thanks for the lovely upload. But I have a doubt, whether this recording is really from 1969? Because Joshi Ji's voice tonality and style of singing in this recording sounds more like his voice and style from around the late 70's.

@@FarhanAmin1994 शायद हारमोनियम पर पुरुषोत्तम वालावलकर जी और तबले पर उस्ताद गुलाम रसूल साहब संगत कर रहे थे... तबले में ऐसी शैली में संगत उस्ताद गुलाम रसूल या पंडित नाना मुळे करते थे...

Does the Shuddha Kalyan composition belong to the Jaipur-Atrauli Gharana? I have heard a recording of Surshri Kesarbai on youtube sing the same 'Eri Mayi Piya...' in Shuddha Kalyan. Also I haven't heard this Bandish sung by other Kirana stalwarts.

kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lb2PaKyCuL3Km6M.html Here, you can see that he talks about an interaction with Kesarbai while he was a young man. Maybe he learnt this bandish (and others?) during that period. Have never heard his Kafi Kanada, though.

Yes. I have watched this interview clip. I think Bhimsenji used to sing some compositions from the Jaipur Atrauli gharana. Another such example is 'Tu Ras Kaan re...' in Durga raag.
