you could as well shout into NTG, it's clipping anyway. This comparison makes no sense the way it's done

And all this time and all the comments I’ve gotten this is the first time I’ve heard this. I’ll go back and listen to that video closer. Thanks for your comment.

I bought both. While SM7B is best on stand or arm, I use the NTG to boom overhead, out of camera.

Agreed. Do you have a video u using the mics?

@@theoldvideoguy . My First Camera video used the NTG boomed overhead. Most often I use DJI Wireless Mic. SM7B mainly used on a “experimental” podcast. With only 4 videos uploaded, I have so much more to learn and try. Thank for pushing me.

Has the Rode VMNTG got the -20db pad on? It almost sounds like it’s clipping at the capsule level.

Wow That was a long time ago. I'm pretty sure it didn't. Thanks for your comment

@@theoldvideoguy cool to see you still keeping up with comments. I only came across the video as I have the VMNTG and have been looking at dynamic style mics. Thanks for making such relevant videos with real world examples instead of just talking about specs etc. I’m going to check out the rest of your channel.

You should redo this video. It makes no sense for Rode. Congrats on the imagine quality though.

I'm looking for the Shure SM7B because I make informative videos (other topics but like your setup). I have the NTG3 for years (I was making short docs) which is great, but sometimes I have a lot of noise (more post) and maybe is time to move to this one which is more appropriate for what I'm doing now. Is the Shure SM7B isolate more the background noise? Beside that sounds amazing? Thanks a lot for the video.

Thanks for your post. A shotgun Mic will definitely pick up more ambient noises. The SM7B should take care of that. You’ll want to make sure it’s plugged into an interface, such as the road caster pro where you can control your audio processing.

@@theoldvideoguy Thanks for your quick response 🙏🏻 Do you know if it's possible to use the SM7B with a wireless transmitter (Sony UWP-D)?

I think the rode in not in good position and it’s further away
@theoldvideoguy

The road is further away because it is a shotgun, Mic. The SM 7B is more of a proximity microphone like I said, in the video, we’re not really comparing apples to apples. Thanks so much for watching.

The rode sounds weird… like it’s clipping without even being “too loud” per se.
