The plaintiff says she bought a car from the defendant and it died on the highway. She claims he knew it was a junker, so she’s suing for the cost of repairs, rental cars, and missed work. The defendant claims they went on a test drive and the car ran fine. He insists he owes her nothing.

Right I bought a 2014 Lincoln MKS and thought I had a good deal because it was only 4grand. I had to replace all 4 tires and some other stuff I think called rotors. My is car 4 wheel drive so it was expensive. I replaced the front windshield as well. I drove it about 10 months and noticed the transmission wasn’t shifting smooth. They told me nothing was wrong with the car other than it needing tires. Well some months later I had to replace the transmission. Even though I expected to have to get things fixed. I didn’t call the car lot talking about I want my money back. After all that I put about 5500 into the car. My boyfriend wanted me to sell it but I love my car and they don’t make that body style anymore plus it’s the fast one I have the ecoboost.

@@coffeeinthenebula Secondary offense of what? People de-badge their cars and trucks all the time. As long as the registration and vehicle VINs match and it's obvious what kind of car it is, there's no law that requires badging. Ford introduced the Thunderbird as a 1955 model, but they didn't have a Ford badge on them from the factory until the 1989s.

If you didn't want to pay for any repairs to the car, then you should have bought a new car. Plus, it's not a "lemon". A lemon only applies if you buy a brand new car (i.e. 2021 Nissan) and it doesn't work or has significant damages.

That’s not true in every state I don’t know about any other state but Massachusetts even “as is” if you buy a used car from a dealer and it cannot pass inspection it is a lemon.. But if you go and get a sticker and the next day your engine falls out that’s your problem and if it’s as is from a Private party it’s on you

I just bought a used car and it's not always as is. I bought a 2017 and the manufacturer warranty is for ten years so I have six more years of a warranty. It's not on the dealer though. Yes a car has to pass inspection where you bought it but if you buy a car for example in Missouri it only has to pass in that state. So if it doesn't pass in California with there extra emissions request ends it doesn't matter.

I can’t believe the audacity of the plaintiff and USUALLY in these cases you DO hear about the dealership PURPOSELY HIDING OR LYING about the condition to the extent that they will actually lose to the plaintiff even with the “lemon law” but this nut case is a special one.....in other words, she’s a greedy cow that really tried to milk it bone dry even after they went as above & beyond as they did. The silver lining to THIS for the defendant is that THIS show is watched by MILLIONS OF PEOPLE WORLDWIDE & I’m watching in Ontario Canada 🇨🇦 & so my point in saying that is now NO DEALERSHIP is gonna mess with with her WITHOUT VERY TIGHT AND VERY SPECIFIC SPECIFICATIONS AS WELL AS having her sign an even more detailed contract!!!!! I bet this car dealership is going to do even better business now when people see such a high level of customer service!!!!! 💯😁👍🏼💖🙂

Always, ALWAYS get an independent mechanic to check out a used car BEFORE you buy. Then you can make an informed decision about whether you still want the car. If the seller won't let that happen, don't buy from them.

In english, which she speaks, brought and bought are indeed two separate words and are not interchangable. I wasn't critical of her character (i don't even know her). It was an observation of exactly what she said. I am sure other english speakers will make the same observation. I know individuals where english is their second language make grammatical errors. This was not that.

I’ve bought many used cars. I always figure I’ll need new tires fairly soon and I’ll be spending at least a $1000 a year in repairs. It’s still cheaper than having a car payment.

Exactly. I only buy used cars. No car payment, cash deals. I bought one for $800 about 15 years ago & it went for 12 years with routine maintenance. The most money I spent on it was replacing the brakes & tires. I've never had one I just bought & it died but I also know, a pretty car doesn't equal a functional car. Too many people want the look & don't care about the functional at purchase.
