What i love about this movie is, that the adult role was purely supporting character, not antagonist or opposition. And my favorite scene was when Gabe cry & heard by his parents, i like to assume that is the moment their parent begin to reconcile.

I watched this movie when I was at that boys age. I too had a crush on my seat partner. I felt butterflies and what nots everytime i saw her. She was so beautiful i forgot to blink. But when we switched classes we then sat with other people but i did still had a crush on her. Times past we grew and finally in the 9th grade we talked again and i felt what i had felt when we were young. Finally got the courage to ask her out and eventually we ended up dating. But relationships are not always rainbows and butterflies. We broke up many times but we still couldnt stay away from each other for long and got back together again. But as we grew older and older people changed, maybe I did too. For the last time we bid goodbye to each other. Now I'm with sm1 else and maybe she is too. Even though she is not in my life now her memories will always remain.

I saw this movie in TV..and immediately fell in love with it..only regret I had is why didn't I see it in my pre teen days.

I love this story because this relates to me I loved a girl in high school(im still in one but longback) when I confessed my feelings for her she didn't say anything at first then left school next day but lives moves on

I remember growing up I was around tons of girls. There were no dudes around my neighbors. Almost all of them were girls and rest of them were very younger or older than me. Till I hit my puberty. After that I knew I couldn't continue this lol. I'm now 28. When I see those girls who are now married women, we still talk about those time. We had a wrestling match every evening and I was skinny but managed to defeat two girls who were of the same age but was bigger than me for sure. Then one day one of their mom saw it and told us off. Can't imagine 11yo kids doing the same these days lol. I never had any crush on them because I was a late bloomer but later got to know they all had a crush on me. Bad timing.

I had no girl friends in elementary, middle school, or high school. Moved a lot due to the fact dad was in the military. I also was too shy. I met my first girl friend at a local 2 year college. She was a year behind me. I moved to a 4 year college in another state. Time and distance ended that relationship. Don’t know if it would of worked out over time if I hadn’t moved. At the other college I met another girl in Karate class. She was 4 years younger than me. We broke up just before I graduated. I am still in contact with her after 51 years. She is married and I have met her husband. Really a nice guy. I am also married to a gal I met in the state I had moved to.

Can a sequel be possible? It deserves one.

I know the ending was a happy turn but I hope if a second movie was ever made he would end up with her

I randomly saw this with my cousin and brother when I was 13 (two years after it came out) and I hadn’t heard of it and couldn’t believe how funny it was/is. Looking back I think I gravitated towards it because 1). I could relate and 2). It didn’t come across as a cheesy kid movie. It was more realistic to me how Gabe tries to impress her and embarrasses himself😂 and when he gets his heart broken he’s so dramatic lol and how quick summer flings are when you’re a kid but you think they were longer than they really were and it just makes me think back to a simpler time I guess

Also just a great film. Very realistic with the emotions and the heartbreak.

Well Gabe has had more success than me at getting a girlfriend back in kindergarten I had a crush on a girl she rejected me for one of my friends then in second grade I was friend-zoned at the same time my current best friend started dating and in 6th grade a girl had a crush on me and due to a misunderstanding in the library I might have hurt her feelings unintentionally and I eventually grew to have a crush on her because she was kind cute and smart and just was a great person to be around so now I have a potential crush she is cute and kind to me and I am kind to her back so I don’t know where it will go but I hope in a positive direction but if stuff goes south I have my cat to rely on

This movie brings back so much memories When u think about it, failing in love is actualy easy (the other party doesnt even need to care about you, when ur heart picks, u are doomed), the hardest part is when the other party never does that and the love is one sighted I do wonder, what happens if u marry ur first love?
