How to Draw Emotes With Your MOUSE

Күн бұрынI’ve been drawing emotes since 2016 and to help you guys out I’ve got a tutorial on how to draw emotes with your computer mouse, no art tablet required. I do this in Clip Studio Paint, an ideal art program as you don’t need a steady hand, you just need the vector tools! You’ll find that drawing emotes can be easy, otherwise, possible without drawing tablets!

Technically you can but it doesn't have very good vector tools. The tools are very different and you'd probably struggle to figure it out. I highly recommend trying CSP

I don't really draw digitally, sometimes just do some graphic stuff, so I know my way around editing programs (also because both of my parents used those for their jobs, so I've learned from very early already). I wasn't planning in making emotes or anything along the lines, but I saw this video pop up and was just interested. I didn't even think I would watch all 50 minutes, but I did, and I learned A LOT. Maybe this is because I already know the basics, maybe not, but you explain everything so clearly. I like how you also show everything and explain all the details like how the tool icons may change depending on what you use and where to find everything (like opening windows) in case someone's program is set up different, and not just assuming that people know or that it's obvious. Thank you for this video :)

Very useful! I knew about 80% of this regarding vector layers (100% the reason I use CSP) but some aspects such as the continuous curve is something that will be exceptionally helpful even with a graphics tablet. Way back when I used to use the same idea with a mouse and vector lines, so it's good to see that it's still available in modern art programs. Smooth perfect lines can still be a struggle even with vectors and stabilisation options and involves many layers, but I'm definitely going to be trying the continuous curve option for some designs.

My own perfectionism almost made me use up my entire class time just trying to get the outline right. Until my Art teacher noticed, came over and told me I was not allowed to erase any of the outline until I drew the whole outline first. AFTER I drew the initial outline, then I could tweak it if it needed tweaking. It was a very valuable lesson for me and it worked out really well. Great comment re being able to erase, and also drawing it multiple times to see if you like one way better than another.

Definitely hard to get it 100% perfect when creating these videos. Wish others knew how difficult video creation for tutorials can be and when errors like this are found to kind of look past it and hopefully the information is helpful anyway 👍

I suppose you could but gimp doesn't have vector tools so you'd have to still actually draw it. I think that would be super difficult and not recommend

I'm really lost on the filling in part. I followed everything you said all the way up to when you started filling in the eyes. Right after you finished the Lines folder. When I try to fill in my new rasterize layer, it fills the whole page. What step am I missing?

where did you get the "correct line width" sub tool? it's not showing up on my clip studio

Check the settings button of your tool properties. In the tool property window button right is a wrench. You can find more settings in there and turn on the ones you want visible at all times.

You did not tell the merging layers thing nor referred to any other video? now my emote is just weirdly black and with dancing around i got the head to change color but it makes the eyes smaller cheeeez :D

No, one time cost in PC for 50 usd. There's a three month free trial and it goes on sale 50% off every three months or so, I suspect the next sale will be end of November, so that's only $25 usd.

I'm a novice when it comes to drawing, and textile wise I have no interest in pencil and paper. This software seems pretty awesome, would you consider it fairly intuitive for beginners? I've been eyeballing Autodesk Sketchbook and Photoshop as well. I will likely begin drawing on a tablet first and eventually get a drawing tablet to draw on the computer as I get better, but I feel like drawing directly on a tablet will be best to start before I try to maneuver my hand/eye coordination more. 😅

I absolutely feel this is a simple program to navigate and beginner friendly. Of the other programs you mentioned I've only tried photoshop which has a reputation for being difficult to use and I'd totally agree that it's confusing and difficult to use. However you get started is fine as all choices are valid, all device options are valid. Best if luck!

Awesome. You should be able to free trial it for three months and then I'd recommend looking for the 50% off sale. They have it around 4 times a year, roughly every 3 months, next one should be end of November ish.

howd you add your photo to your computer? because youve drawn it by hand im kind of confused on how you added it to your files

I took a photo of it with my phone. Sent it to myself to my computer. Several ways you can do that, email it to yourself, download from a place you upload (like Google drive or another cloud) and then once downloaded it you can go file open or you can drag the file into CSP to open it.

No I've never needed too. Discord accepts a variety of sizes, I'm assuming there's just a max size which is probably quite large.

Does this work the same on photoshop? I tried making a vector layer but it wasn’t transparent..

You could do it but the vector tools are completely different. All new created layers in an art program will be transparent. Make sure the original background layer is deleted or invisible. Then save as a png. Jpeg cannot do transparency

Very good tutorial, but am i the only one having a problem with "Cube object " tool? I don´t have a panel for changing the border. I tried to play with windows to find it but nothing :( edit : I speak about 33:25

You don't have a tool property window? Or you don't have the settings in that window? If you don't have the settings then you'll need to go into the settings of the tool property window to get them to show. Click on the very bottom right of the tool property window and then look for the setting you want and turn it on by activating the eye ball.

I've gotten better at tutorials and one of the ways I made them better was by resetting my CSP settings all back to defaults. But this tutorial happened before that. So the answer is that I had moved some of the line tools into the the object tool sub tools. So the tool you're looking for isn't with objects. It's with the line correction tools (or vice versa depending on what's missing). Sorry about the confusion!!

It's an in depth guide so yes, it's long. It's essentially a free course. To teach everything I couldn't skip important information.

I know this tutorial vid years ago...but you started out saying take a pic i (think) you said from a phone after you hand drawn...but you never showed that an where to send it to from your phone lol i know probably your email or sumin but how to get it from there to pc lol

You can send it in many ways. Any way to upload it online. For example, you can upload to a cloud service like google storage. You can email it to yourself as well if that simplest. If you're literally asking how to get it from emailing it to yourself, you must send the email from your phone to yourself with the image, then you login to your email on your PC and download the image.

Did you draw your lines on a vector layer? Make sure there are no other layers in front of the layer you want to make the outline that would cover it, like an accidental background layer

"You must draw them yourself" and this is complete and utter garbage, especially if youre starting, tracing teaches you alot. The important part is never to share or sell the traced art, but only use it to learn. Stop saying tracing art is bad, like omg its so dumb.

Tracing is stealing. Not acceptable. It has its place for learning purposes when the artists is upfront that it was traced and it explains its for learning purposes only. It would be wrong to trace art and claim it as our own. There are things like bases and models meant for this and these are fine to trace.
