As a Jambo I loved that interview, honesty all the way. Blackie will always be a hero of mine, the man was top class in maroon. The last I heard he was playing for Dunbar United, you should check out Ian's availability for your Broom Hill squad, Si, thanks for the video.

Interesting insight into the first season in the Championship for Rangers. McCoist was tactically naive and to this day I don't think any manager in the world would have taken us up. We Brought in past the post dinosaurs and whilst the Hearts team weren't that great they had young and hungry players looking to cement their legacy as the club. Something the fans had been calling for since D3. The best interview from any player involved with us from that period by far.

Top stuff again si. Probs one of the most honest interviews of them all. At the start he came across as bit of arrogant guy. As he opened up a bit it's clear that's why he had the career he had. Also some of the things he's went through anyone would have been the same. Down to earth and very honest.

Every single Edinburgh born player that has been on Open Goal sounds and acts like they should have been in Trainspotting haha. I will say, 52:25 - got to respect that attitude (I'm a Celtic fan and thought on the park Black was a total walloper and heartily laughed when Brown ruined him in the Cup Semi at Hampden) but that's the mark of a decent guy, looking after his family no matter what, very much changed my opinion of him. Great interview as always Si.

Class interview. I was in the year above Ian at school, I always just thought he was a laid back kinda guy. Was always competitive playing football. Could still do with him at hearts in the centre. Fucking brilliant story about the meeting crash. Absolute legend man.

Got a lot of stick at Rangers , he always tried his best, supporters never really forgave him for injuring Jelavic, i thought he was ok, and yeah, he is entitled to be annoyed with a manager not the first or the last to do so, normal guy, and got pelters just for being Ian Black, unfair in my opinion, was a stand out at Hearts, and played in a shite Rangers side lets be honest, i enjoyed his honesty no brown nosing, a proper honest interview.

CELTIC STRIKER TARGETS: 🍀🍀🍀 If Bayo can remain fit, then we don't really need a striker this season. If he can't get fit though there has been talk of a striker, and besides, strikers are always fun so who cares if we need one or not! I personally think we need a target man style of attacker. So this list will focus mainly on target men. Enjoy! 5. Fernandão 🇧🇷 - Fernandão currently plays for Bahia FC who are based in Salvador although they play in a Brazilian league. Before this though, Fernandão made his name in the Süper Lig playing for Bursaspor, then later playing for Fenerbahce, having a very impressive record of 49 goals in 93 games. Some of you may remember those days, I certainly do! For those of you who don't, we were beating Fenerbahce 2-0 at home in the UEL, and Fernandão came off the bench and scored 2, with the game finishing level. It's not just his goals I remember though as he was a highly aggressive striker who completely bullied our defence from start to finish. At 32 y/o, Fernandão is no spring chicken, but would surely be more than capable of a decent couple of seasons when used as a back-up/plan b type of striker. 4. Famara Diedhiou 🇸🇳 - Diedhiou is a VERY solid player to say the least. He's scored 13 goals in the championship for the last 2 seasons running, bearing in mind that he is a target man playing for a team in Bristol who don't exactly create that many chances. So imagine how many he would score if he played for a team like Celtic, with the likes of Forrest, McGregor and Christie who create a huge amount of chances in games. He is 6'2 and very stocky in his build, perfect for competing in the Scottish game. 'BristolLive' actually did an article saying how Bristol City must keep hold of "important" Diedhiou and "build the team around him". When you are reading reports like that, combined with the fact Bristol fans adore him, it just shows what a player he could be for Celtic. Obviously it goes against one of my pet hates (shopping in the English market) but if a deal could be done, it would definitely be worthwhile! 3. Erling Braut Håland 🇳🇴 - This boy has the making of a potential mega star. Standing at just under 6'5, Erling is a man mountain despite only just turning 18 y/o! Erling most recently caught the media's attention after scoring 9 goals in a single game for Norway's u20 team vs Honduras, breaking records in the process. However there is one VERY frustrating thing about him. I first scouted Erling a couple of years ago when he was playing for Molde, however since then he has earned himself a big move to RB Salzburg. Salzburg aren't exactly short of cash, so prising the youngster away would be far more expensive than it would have been a couple of years ago. Thats what happens though when you have the incompetence of Lee Congerton in charge of your transfers! Had I been a Celtic scout I would have gone all out to land this lad, because guaranteed whatever you paid, you would make it back tenfold in years to come! No doubt we will see more of him in the future, hopefully with Celtic. 2. Zlatan Ibrahimović 🇸🇪 - I know, I know. Just hear me out. Zlatan will be 38 y/o in October and his contract is up in December with LA Galaxy. Seeing as Zlatan would be a free transfer, Celtic should be able to pay him a larger wage. A half decent wage, combined with the lure of Champions League football, playing in one of the biggest derbies in world football, and winning more trophies to help boost his total count, it would MAYBE be possible to tempt Zlatan to Glasgow. Even if we did have to break records and pay silly money in wages, it would still be worth it. The media attention, shirt sales and general international profile of the club would shoot through the roof, bringing in millions in revenue to recoup that of wages! (Like Juve and Ronaldo) Even if it is only 1 season. Before you lot bite my head off in the comments, I am well aware it would still be a big IF. However if you look at recent deals in Scottish football, it shows it is possible! Steven Caulker, previously one of England's most promising young CB's signed for Dundee. Jermain Defoe, the 8th all-time EPL top scorer with 162 goals, thought to be on £100k+ per week for Bournemouth, signed for Rangers. Also the most most surprising one being José Mourinho, one of the greatest and richest managers in the history of the game, being linked with the Celtic job only a couple of months ago. Gianluca Di Marzio, Italy Sky Sports' top football journalist even wrote and article on it, and Chris Sutton confirmed live on BT that Celtic had actually made an offer. So when you look at Mourinho, a 38 y/o, free agent Zlatan doesn't seem quite as ridiculous as it initially sounds. I won't even bother doing a report on him because we all know he is one of the greatest players ever to grace a pitch! 1. Milan Pavkov 🇷🇸 - For me, Milan Pavkov has to be the obvious choice. He is the perfect blend of ability, and affordability. If reports were true, we actually sent scouts to watch this guy not too long ago. Pavkov is 25 y/o and stands at 6'4. As you would imagine, like pretty much all strikers on this list, he is a complete powerhouse, however also has a fantastic eye for goal. Last season Pavkov was loaned out to his previous club Radnički Niš, who finished 2nd in the Sebian league behind his parent club, Red Star Belgrade. During his time he scored a very impressive 23 goals in 33 games. His record with a Red Star is also not too shabby scoring 12 in 27 appearances. 14 of these goals were 'match-winning' goals, demonstrating his ability to score at crucial times under pressure, a trait that always comes in handy. His most memorable game however was in Red Star's 2-0 home win to Liverpool in the 2018 Champions League. Pavkov scored both goals. His first was a towering header from a corner, whilst being marked 1v1 by our very own Virgil Van Dijk, showing as his huge frame would suggest, that he is a monster in the air. Whilst his 2nd was an absolute belter from 30+ yards! Pavkov is definitely within budget, and would be a brilliant addition to bolster our attacking line, that would give us the option to play a completely different style of play if needed. Also, let's not kid ourselves. Who doesn't love a 6'4, Serbian brick sh*thouse in their team! Bonus target: Mbaye Diagne 🇸🇳 - Had this been a few seasons ago, we may well have stood a chance of signing this boy. However due to inflation thanks to English clubs carelessly spending stupid money on transfer fees, I doubt we could afford to sign him. Hence why this is the bonus target and not on the main list. He is a 6'3 Senegalese striker who plays for Galatasaray, and scored a staggering 30 goals in the Süper Lig last season. With us still to spend the £20m we got from Dembélé (Still miss him like mad 😢) there is always a chance we could use some of the money to sign this lad. He would certainly be a major coup if it happened, giving us a real focal point in European games. As always thanks for reading! If you could drop a like on this post it would mean so much as I spent quite a bit of time writing it. Also if you have any strikers you think would do well for Celtic, feel free to comment them below! HH 🍀🍀🍀
