Siargao locals can keep the island safe simple as ever if they not allowed construction of big hotels and resorts...keep it as the way it should be!

@vicfortela3 ай бұрын
@@VagabondBabayaga so ask the locals if they want tourists or no..i am sure locals say yes to tourism as it brings $$$
@dunntroon3 ай бұрын
@@vicfortela the locals want better infrastructure and services like footpaths, streetlights, drainage, hospitals and schools. Also a reliable power supply and water supply is desperately needed in the provinces. Selling burgers, cheap plastic sunglasses and fridge magnets for a few months a year doesn't provide any of those things. I'm not against the tourism there, it's beautiful and I'm sure the locals are happy to show off their natural surroundings but the tired, old excuse that tourism will suddenly make all the locals happy has no merit.

@@dunntroon why do you think the thais are richer than filipinos? why do you think Bali people are comfortably well off ? even the japanese are trying to revive their tourism as it is a means of revenue for their country..discuss the benefits of tourism with an economists so youll understand
@dunntroon3 ай бұрын
@@vicfortela where did I ever say that Thai's are richer? If that is an argument you'd like to make, Thai GDP is larger than Phil GDP and also GDP per capita is larger as well, basically double per capita with PPP. You can talk to an economist about that. Also nearly every country in the planet is trying to revive their tourism post pandemic, so what does Japan have to do with my comments?

I'm a lokal of the island in Gen. Luna. The sprouting of resorts and huge number of tourists caused big damage in the island where a lot of trees were cut down, garbages are found everywhere and traffic. The island used to be way more beautiful and peaceful before where people lived a very simple life. May the national government do something to limit the number of resorts in our municipality and visitors in the island because the local government doesn't do much to save the it.

Tourism brings income to your city and . It comes with pros and cons, unfortunately.
@carln44063 ай бұрын
@@applesgalang8648 yes, it is true. However, cons can be mitigated via proper planning and restrictions such as structure and visitor control. Progress doesn't mean paved roads and high rising resorts especially in an island like ours.

I think Palawan or to an extent a place like Cebu/Bohol do a better job in Managing tourism. I think tourism is great and for a country like the Philippines it can definitely be a good cheaper way to improve quality of life for some in the country, but they can’t do the BS they do with everything else normal day life in the country. I’ve heard it and best way is sustainable Tourism. Philippines gets criticized for not being authentic like Thailand and Vietnam ( can be exaggerated and annoying) but they is some truth. I look at a place like Boracy and while it’s still nice, it is an example of the Philippines sucking up to foreigners and I fear Siargao can be one of those islands. I don’t know with places like El Nido or Bohol, but for me it seems better managed in a way and try to respect their nature and history. Philippines needs to keep its identity with tourism especially with nature. And as I and others said with sustainable tourism, this means this country doesn’t need millions of tourists like Thailand. Having good balance with numbers but nature and local life having good treatment is best way for tourism industry. Philippines have to stop sucking up to tourists. As people say QUALITY will always beat QUANTITY aim many aspects and it applies here. The nature of the island for just has be heavily regulated and just give better infrastructure not just for tourists but locals. Honestly these islands and cities/towns in these places have so much potential to do much better. Government just has t9 capitalize and think quality of life over money and profit which is what the country should aim for as well.
