Reason why it didn't taste like fish is because it didn't have much fish. Mung beans (munggo) - hate to say this but it's usually cooked with a small bit of pork and shrimp as I know you don't eat pork. Ask if it has 'baboy'-pig/pork next time If their English is limited.

Now this is a Filipino food plave and some BALINESE Cafe copycat. But I guess the cafes are better, if they are not super expensive.
