Wow! Thanks for sharing. I find this trap to be much easier to set up than the figure 4 trap. Great idea.

You posted this video several years ago but I've watched it several times. It makes me pretty excited to watch primitive trapping videos presented by someone with a heavy metal t-shirt! Great info here, thank you.

Looks like you could maybe make a live trap using this method and substituting the crushing rock for a bowl or box or something.

Very good job, great design, great execution. Impressive. I recently watched a video on the OTHER end of the scale, a young guy who has textbook knowledge but no actual skills, he and a friend went fishing, caught a bluegill, destroyed it, threw away valuable parts, got dirt in the meat, and called it a survival video. What crap. This is the real thing. God bless.

Good trap but you should have shown how the three pieces interlock and relate to each other a lot better, only saw one side of the trap. A bit confusing.

Suggestion: Watching a guy whittle on sticks is really not all that informing. It really isn’t. The sticks are the hesrt and soul of the mechanism. I can figure out the rocks pretty easily. Please, PLEASE, consider drawing diagrams of each of the component sticks, showing each stick in twice or four times actual size. Use explanatory labels and arrows pointing to specific areas describing angles, set backs, etc. show each stick from several sides, top, and bottom. That way, people who are trying to learn from you, CAN learn from you. I want to learn how to make, assemble, and use this trigger mechanism. It looks like a very good one. Sadly, I didn’t learn it.

I learned the same type of "Siberian" trigger from Alan. It's actually a modification of the original which is called a Koolyomka as seen in the documentary called Happy People on Netflix in case your interested.

Hey Jeff, I really dig the video. It looked like it took bit of pressure to trigger you final set up. Is there a way to make it a little more sensitive?

Ya I gave a try making this trap and it took some serious pressure. I am thinking the figure 4 or Paiute might be a better option.

If I may suggest, it was helpful to see close up views of the individual trap components, and it would also be helpful for trap newbs like me to see a closeup of the components and how they fit together. It would make understanding simpler. Thanks for such an interesting video.

Sorry, I don't see the depth the bait stick is set into the trigger which prevents the bait stick from falling without lashing. Is the bait stick recess cut to a snug friction fit (exact) or with slight play in it's size. Wish you'd shown.

Don't use the word SLOPE on the post stick. It's a 45 deg angle. Simpler to understand.
