When the show started (BET Africa) I didn't understand Jeannie (extra) but when Tamar(love her) left everyone started being themselves and their personality started showing. Jeannie is the only constant personality rain or sunshine.

This is why I'd prefer to have kids close in age. That way none of them get too comfortable to "how things used to be" before their baby brother/sister came along. I know it can be hard to control when to conceive though- also, I love what Loni said about older siblings. Middle children get left out as well, maybe even more so. People's birth order can contribute greatly to their personalities later in life, so it's important to be aware of such things

Jessica Locy totally. Where you are in the family can make a huge difference. I was the baby of the family for almost 7 years before my sister came. It was SOO hard
@jesscook

Katie Mann I was always the baby of the family, but the thought of having a sibling made me angry and jealous as a child hahah. How did you cope with your sister coming? Do you remember your parents trying to make you feel better about it?
@mewtwomotherfuka

Your reason for having babies close together so they arent old enough to feel replaced? Oh ok.
@jesscook
@jesscook 6 жыл бұрын
HeatDamageJourney no actually- my main reason is so that they are more likely to have a closer relationship. But also to avoid making one or more of them feel like a huge change is coming that will detract the usual attention they get isn't a bad reason. I should have been more clear though
@tlcmnchld
@tlcmnchld 6 жыл бұрын
You worded it just fine since nothing about replacement was mentioned in your comment. It's natural for anyone to get settled into a certain pattern of things and when that shifts, or changes, it can easily cause discomfort in some people in many different ways. So, it's understandable and considerate of you to not want your child to get too comfortable knowing that things may change at some point in the near future.

Well said Loni. As an older "sister" I always was, and still am today at the age of 22, in second place. Not just my mum, but my whole family only seem to remember I exist when they need a favour =) So please, if you're having a second child, please remember your first child is still your CHILD and still needs love, attention and support. Don't expect them to raise themselves just because you have another child to raise.

Why is even Adrienne talking? Isreal Houghton came on the show and said his youngest kids are 12 and 13. He plainly lied. I believe Tamara who has very high morals recognize Isreal for the dog that he is. She uses a lot of wisdom. Loni knows the truth but doesn’t get involve. What I don’t understand is if it were some else they would have already called them out! Why does Isreal Houghton gets a pass from these women for destroying two beautiful women. He is a womanizer, cheated over and over on his wife of 23 years, have two kids with the side chick, cheated on her with 2 small babies and left and marry Adrienne. This man is so wicked for a so called gospel singer He won’t even recognize his 2 last boys and the real is giving him a passs?..... Seriously? ‍

Mamobo Ogoro in my family, the middle child is the star child. She was always the glorified one. She could get away with murder and do absolutely no wrong. I hate that stereotype that the middle child is forgotten. The younger ones and me being the oldest were always forced to revolve our Lives and patience around her as much as my parents themselves did. Lo and behold she grew up to be the biggest drama queen of the family.

+Mamobo Ogoro.....I am the middle child but I quickly learned by age 5 to follow my Dad around like his shadow. I learned to do the things my Dad did like hunt, fish, carpentry and construction work, paint....even though this was a no-no when we went home for short-term stays, it was acceptable in America for a girl to do such things. I was determined that somebody was going to know I existed in my family---lol.

I am 7 years apart from my oldest brother and 4 years apart from my other brother and we get along great as adults. We definitely had our moments when we were kids and we really started to appreciate one another once we were grown. Our mother became ill about 3 years ago and it was a wake up call for us to really be able to lend emotional support for each other because sadly our mom passed away in 2016 from cancer at 49. Now it's just my brothers, my dad, and me and the 4 of us all get along amazing

As the oldest of 3, I was put into a parenting situation over my siblings at a very young age. I feel like I got looked over and when I became a teen, I began to get into trouble for attention. I even had a baby at a young age because I wanted love and attention from my parents. I was always an overseer for my siblings, but the way I understand it now, my sister has carried a lot of resentment towards me because of the situation our mom put me in as their overseer. Needless to say, my two kids are 16 years apart and they love each other. My son looks up to my daughter and loves it when she is around. I never put her in the situation my mom did to me because he was my baby, not hers, and I made sure to make time for my daughter and give her the attention she needed for her productive development.

Hi. I just have to say that I'm so glad that my daughter has a sibling, because I have siblings. I just think that if you have one child, that child needs someone to play with, especially someone who lives in the same household, because it's more fun. :) I had a hard time carrying my babies so when I got pregnant and actually had my daughter who's the oldest, I was overjoyed. Then when I finally found out I was pregnant with my second child, I was nervous, but I had him. Sorry this is so long. They are the best of friends. My daughter is 5 and my son is 16 months.

My sister and I are 12 years apart. Ever since I was born, my mother wanted to have other children. To be completely honest, I think she blamed her fertility issues on me. It was very hard growing up and I had a really bad relationship with my mom. When my sister was born, she reminded me of my mom, and it made me hate her. I had to spend a lot of time fixing myself and my relationship with my mom before I could love my sister.

Loni is a great god mother/ aunty to all her babies. It's really sweet to see that strong nurturing side that Loni has to her. It's easy to forget cause she's always going on about and sex, hard liquor, and partying( which is fine, I have nothing against that) but it's nice to be reminded that there are many many sides too miss Loni Love. In general she really has a soft spot for children and for people who take on that parental role for thoses kids who may not have it and educators who really care about their students. You can tell she really has a caring soul.

Yes, older ones have it hard when the younger siblings arrive. However, it's important to note that the harshest feelings are with the youngest. They come into a world where they are being hated for no reason of their own. They didn't do anything except be born yet they get targeted for foul treatment. That causes severe problems as they grow up. It's also why so many younger siblings are the introverted, scared types.

She never talked about how they hated each other before. That's a common thing, I guess she was really embarrassed though...It's helpful for people to know the truth about how it can be with 2 kids..People don't do that often enough

As the oldest child It’s different once you hit a certain age. I hated that I was having siblings at 13,14, & 16. Life changed drastically but now that I’m older and they are teens we we are close. As for my daughters who are 3 yrs apart, I let my oldest be involved with everything. I also showed her photos of my baby shower, ultrasound, etc so she knew everything we are doing for her sister we did for her. Also, when she first came to the hospital I had the baby in my arms and she wouldn’t come to me. But the second time I didn’t and she was happier and more open to seeing her new sister.

Adrienne reminds me so much of my stepmum, the way she seems to have integrated so greatly into her husbands family. That is to be seriously respected. My parents split when I was 6, my Dad basically raised me and my older bro completely alone, and my stepmum came into our lives at probably one of the worst moments, and being a Greek-Cypriot family, we weren't too fond of her at first because she was Turkish haha (the history lol), but years on, she is one of the closest people to me, and I now have a little greek/turkish brother who I love more than anything. I just love that Adrienne calls them her kids, because it takes a REAL woman to step up and raise somebody elses kids, a real MAN too! But you don't hear many single father stories.

I think the age gap is also important. The older the firstborn the easier he gets it that there's coming another baby. I'm currently pregnant with baby no 2 and my firstborn is 1.5 years old. So I'm scared he will be shocked cause he's too young

My moms friend had a baby (close family friends) just about a year ago and obviously I wanted to buy some clothes for her but there’s an older sibling so I had to get him something too. Her mom felt bad and said “oh you didn’t need to get him anything” but I feel like I have to. They need to both feel loved.

I wish my parents had taken Loni's advice xD In my house, it was the exact opposite of what she's saying, because it was a lot of my being the oldest being used as the excuse/reason I had to give up certain things for the sake of my younger siblings. Growing up, I resented the attention one of my younger siblings got in particular (due to medical reasons), and I had plenty of Jeannie Mai moments, where I had to keep checking myself not to become resentful that the focus had to be on her
