According to nature hedgehogs can swim up to 2 km per day in search for food hedgehogs also use swimming as a means of escape from predators as well so they're actually pretty good swimmers.

If one has Immense land space with trees ,bracken, brook, small bridge with hedgehog houses . leave them in peace they will set up a family repeat the system over the property ; No lawns or electrical ground level cutters. Plant stuff the slugs love. Then you have a chance to observe them quietly. Many years ago I had such a property with all the wildlife that lived in the region.Happiest time for my family.

Because we have African Pygmy Hedgehogs.. they are smaller and don’t hibernate. I have to keep mine warm, and he does NOT swim.

The hedgehog is an invasive species now found in the wild in the US because of pet owners releasing them over many years. They cause immense damage to native species including insects, snails, lizards and ground-nesting birds, particularly shore birds. It is illegal to keep a hedgehog in Pennsylvania, Hawaii, California, Georgia, Arizona, and Maine without a licence.

@@Daniel-rd6st Lovely dogs. l had a stray Shepherd turn up at my house when l lived in ltaly. Found him asleep in my car one summer. l lived in a little village and it was hot so l had left the windows down. I was so afraid of dogs l hid in the house for 2 days. But, because l love animals l had to do something so l snuck out when he was asleep and left him cat food (the only thing l had) and water. l was finally able to get in my car when he got out to eat and drove to the police station to report the stray. The policeman said they'd try and collect him in the next few days, shook his head and added, poor dog, under his breath. Instantly concerned, l asked what would happen to him and was told if he was lucky he'd be put down otherwise he'd go to the university for experiments. Having heard my English accent they knew they would never see me again once l thought the dog would be harmed, I knew that l'd been played and the police would never come. On my way home l drove past the butchers. My landlord eventually realised, after a few months, that l was lying about the police coming to collect him and gave me an old kennel. My cats must have thought Woof was pretty cool too as they moved into the kennel with him. And that is the story of how l got my first dog, stopped being afraid of them and learned to love Sheperds.😊

Newborn babies cannot be disturbed for filming as mum may abandon or kill them. It actually makes a change that a film crew didn't insist on getting shots of things they shouldn't. Well done Katy for controlling them.

Decent video, but not very good camera work. Never once did the camera try to show us what they were talking about regarding the foot, the camera was kept on the two of them almost entirely when in the room filled with hedgehogs and didn't even try to show the surrounding animals or the "hoglets", and while the up close shots of the animals were nice, those were pretty much the only shots we got of them where the camera wasn't more focused on the people. I'll admit that both the women were beautiful, but we weren't watching a nature documentary on beautiful women, so they shouldn't have been the focus of the camera work......
