Whew, I'm glad you brought the "shlyrics" because I forgot mine! "Let It Rain" became a staple on FM radio after it was released on Eric's debut solo album "Eric Clapton" in August of 1970. Some of the players on that album joined Eric as Derek on the Dominos on the "Layla" album. That fine bass playing is by no other than Stephen Stills. I'm so glad you enjoyed the tune, Biz! "Let it Grow", "Bell Bottom Blues", "After Midnight", "Blues Power", a few other classics from Mr. Clapton.

And I left out "Promises", a gorgeous, laid-back mellow tune. Eric's voice never sounded better than on this tune.

Strong George Harrison influence in this one. He was good friends with Eric. Now that you've done Let It Rain listen to his Let It Grow song

🎸💯 Anything Eric Clapton is great‼🔥 I love his earlier stuff, what he did in different groups, his solo music, ALL OF IT‼I'm a die-hard Clapton fan & have been for longer than you've been alive, BizMatik‼I've been fortunate enough to see him 4 or 5 times through the years & still have his vinyls‼That man can make his guitars scream, weep, whatever‼As far as what to listen to next goes, my advice is to start running and take a very deep dive down that Clapton rabbit hole baby‼☮ ❤ 🎶

Great early solo effort by Eric. Has a real George Harrison feel to it. They hung out a lot together in those days when he was in love with George's wife Patti.

You HAVE to check out Eric Clapton with Derek & The Dominos Live at the Fillmore East - Gotta Get Better in A little while and/or Why Does Love Got To Be So Sad....just insane jamming, clapton is absolutely on fire....Sadly, Clapton does NOT like to talk about this era b/c of his substance issues and has said quite frankly that he really doesn't remember any of it....thank GOD someone was rolling tape...just amazing and probably some of his most blazing work...imo

The pitch was high on the guitar because Clapton put a Mid - Boost in all his stratocasters to give it that extra push.

Biz! There is no reactor on the net that gives me more pleasure that yours!!! I can see the enjoyment in your eyes!!! You are so funny too! But it’s the enjoyment I see in your face that just makes me giddy! Young man’s you have not even begun to scratch the surface of the greatest music in history! You will be old and gray before you get close to the end. There is a lifetime of outstanding music!

Don't know whether you've already reacted to it but his solos as a member of Cream on Crossroads live at Winterland '68 are truly epic and many would say his best. I'd also add the studio version of Tales of Brave Ulysses from Cream to your list. And for an amazing bit of esoteric blues guitar, check out Hendrix playing Born Under a Bad Sign off the Jimi Blues album.

That's very true. It's been said that George Harrison wrote some of Ringo's songs. He probably wrote It Don't Come Easy and greatly Influenced his good friend Clapton for this one.
