Bush frontman Gavin Rossdale demonstrates the modified powerchord hook of Everything Zen using a Bigsby-modded Fender '67 Jazzmaster electric guitar, formerly owned by none other than Eagles legend Joe Walsh - and which happens to be the same guitar he used to record the album Sixteen Stone - running through a Vox practice amp.

Sixteen Stone is a brilliant album. Even though it was right in the Grunge period, it really stood out as more of a rock album. Little Things, Machinehead....amazing. All of it. Thanks Gavin. Oh and I would venture to say that John 5 likes it, too!

Damon Briggs their debut album sold 6 million copies in America alone, and they have sold over 20 million worldwide, so somebody must like them. When their album first came out, I remember Dave Grohl said on MTV he thought Bush was the best of the bands who were obviously influenced by Nirvana.

Wow.. saw Bush live in 97 during their Razorblade Suitcase tour at Great Woods in Boston! I remember they opened the show with A Tendency to Start Fires... another awesome riff too...

tomtomthebear 👍🏿 That TONE in general. British amps, a beast all their. Lol it’s probably a goddamn fender tweed. Idk what it is, the rhythm guitar on Bush’s albums always had that very distinct tone, that to this day, is distinctively Bush. I’m gonna say Rossdale in particular. He’s had few different lineups, and I can’t say that I’ve ever really took note of who was playing when, other than 16 stone and the tour to support it. And then the lead guitarist for the Wallflowers sort of looked like Nigel and then for some reason (I’m gonna say it was the drugs and alcohol abuse) everything became convoluted.

Awesome to see Gavin's old Jazzmaster back. I saw Bush live 4 times and after waiting like 17 years was fortunate to catch "Alien" as part of the set lineup. If you haven't seen these guys live you owe it to yourself to do it. Great live band, super friendly guys that always deliver. Thanks Gavin and thanks Guitar World for this

Nigel Pulsford, Robin Goodridge and Dave Parsons were the original Bush lineup along with Gavin. They all made Sixteen Stone sound like the Best grunge and rock álbum of its time. I Wont forget when in 1997 I was 15 and thought the whole World was spinning around Nirvana, Pearl Jam and Soundgarden but me and my pals discovered a New reléased álbum, Razorblade Suitcase and were blown away by it, but our jaws dropped to the floor when we listened to songs like Little Things, Testosterone, Glycerine, etc. A genuine masterpiece. I Will admire these guys until my memory remains. Sorry for the long comment but these blokes were my heroes.

Lol you just described my childhood. After hearing bush (Sixteen Stone & Razorblade Suitcase) I was addicted for years. Nothing else in that era grabbed me like those albums did.

Me as well man. Left a bit of a rant on newer review of the kingdom , regarding all the dickhead critics from day one shitting on em. Sixteen stone is my favorite album ever, I graduated 2001 and razorblade is tremendous too, cant stand any of the other stuff til kingdom, if they keep shooting that direction, I have Hope's of a stone-blade equivalent. Think kingdom is the legitimate successor to razorblade. Give a fuck about the critics (fuck YOU, ALL of u unoriginal hacks). I love those howling guitars, so glad to hear that heaviness and melody...... back!

Saw Bush in 2017 at Memphis in May and they came on right before Soundgarden and were awesome. Less than two weeks later Chris Cornell died in Detroit. That was the third time i saw Bush but the first time i saw Soundgarden and I'm glad i did! Glad to see Bush still rocking in 2020. Long live Rock🤘

Gavin is the first musician I ever met , it was my junior year of high school if I remember correctly ..it was right after their first album came out during their first American tour ..met him out back of Newport Music Hall in Columbus Ohio ..he was very friendly and they put on an awesome show ..still have my autographed stub from the show

I met Gavin Rosedale back in 1999 at the X-103.9 Alternative Rock radio station in San Bernardino, CA, with my then girlfriend Kelly Doyle. He had an interview about their newest record "The Science Of Thing's". And he also shared some of his favorite Steve Albini Produced records, from "The Jesus Lizard" to "The Pixies". I had my guitar with me outside the station, and when done, Gavin, actually walked outside to the front of the station by the parking lot, posed for pictures with eager fans and even signed my acoustic guitar with a permanent marker and he also pluck some strings, I'll never forget it!!!

I still listen to this album at least once or twice a week while riding my Harley thru Vegas and Red Rock. One of the best Rock albums of all time. Great feel, balsy release of energy, great lyrics with homage to Bowie. I just quit drinking in March during the pandemic, was near fucking death, and "Comedown" has special meaning now and I associate that with my recovery. Wish you would make more great music like the songs on this album.

Cold contagious has an absolutely gorgeous guitar sound... so raw. Very underated as a guitar album, Razorblade Suitcase sounds very original to me. One of my favorite albums!

@@brucesimian3743 They really do sound amazing. Never cared about them until a couple years ago when I noodled around on one at a local guitar shop. Fell in love immediately and finally got one about a year and a half ago. Best sounding guitar ever IMHO.

You have a masterful use of language in combination with musicality. I have been an admirer of your work from the early days. I think my favorite combination of poetry, music and Video has to be Comedown. The way you use the camera and movement to enhance the song is very inspired. (I too am a great admirer of Bob Dylan. I was born in 1965, how can you not be a fan of Bob ?!!! It’s the poetry....) 😜Thanks for the video !
