Steve Spangler is a celebrity teacher, science toy designer, speaker, author and an Emmy award-winning television personality. Spangler is probably best known for his Mentos and Diet Coke geyser experiment that went viral in. I did this at home in my pool! I literally bought SOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO much cornstarch! I didn't fall either, it was so fun!

I think this is a great way to learn science and wish our public school from middle class to high school do this kind experiment in class to keep kids interesting in science.

I LOVE playing with cornstarch and water. I figured it out by playing with baby powder and water. It's kinda like quicksand! :)

The one with the corn starch is what's called a non-newtonian fluid.

When I was younger I went to a science show inside a basketball stadium. Well right at the start while everyone was talking, the professor dude thought it would be a good idea to light a hydrogen balloon. The sound from the explosion was so loud it made the entire stadium shake.

It's called the Iodine clock reaction - Google "Periodic Videos Iodine Clock" where they talk you through the reaction & actually show you the reaction with a high-speed camera.

Is based on the balance of acids and bases, an indicator is used, when equilibrium is reached the indicator will change color, so that Ellen by mixing the right amount of acid and base, the indicator (in this case black) gave a change indicating that the reaction has reached equilibrium. Look for "titration with NaOH and HCl" :D

My chemistry teacher had the same "liquid into ink" experiment near Halloween for us to do. Instead of two liquids we had three that turned from clear to black and then orange. The first reaction is just an indicator (don't remember what exactly) and corn starchand water combine. It takes so long because starch is a pretty big molecule.

I did that trick with the bubbles that explode too, but i just blow into the water with a straw. If you then lit it on fire you get a GIANT flame without burning your hands

My science teacher tried teaching us the corn starch trick, it wasn't impressive because she punched a dish filled with a centimetre of that stuff, whereas you have a swimming pool :)
