Lots of HP means lots of maintenance and lots of changing out springs checking bearings pumps ext. Back in 90s we figured out we had to change the springs every race in nascar. Big HP lots of cash needed.

Tom, I believe I saw a Tony Schumacher Top Fuel engine building video where they said you are not supposed the touch the valve springs with your bare hands. Oils from your skin effects the surface of the spring and may cause corrosion.

Lot of guys are running oil heaters, that gets rid of the milkiness and almost all you're moisture out of the oil. Good luck 🍀

acid in your hand is enough to make metal rust in a day. when your a machinist you need to clean carefully measurment tools like 1,2,3 square and jo block ect.

Hmmm, maybe Cleetus was trying to level the playing field for Indy by giving 2.0 a Bud Light while it was on it's extended Florida vacation. Mostly water in that😅

That's why we religiously drain the fuel lines and combustion chamber, then fog the motor even after just being test fired and loaded into the trailer, let alone after every day at the track. Flash rust is a thing, especially when using oxygenated fuel.

I always heard " If you put it back together and you have pieces left over. If it still works obviously it did not need those parts after all."

I tried telling Cleetus multiple times when he first started using meth. Indycar teams (quick disconnect)use a portable gasoline tank to flush the fuel system before transport & after race day.

How about having quick/dry connectors on the oil tank, having one for street mode and one for race. Thus diluting the methanol stained remainder in the engine with street oil as soon as you're finished racing for the day. Or maybe having an extension on the oil pump, turning off the pressure side somehow, and then using that to scavenge/vacuum the engine out with a drill etc. as it's already plumbed in everywhere needed.

Taking it for tech

Tom if you were to pull the valve covers after your last run or drive for the day and let it sit open for the time it takes to get it ready to load etc.With the hot engine open it would help dry the methanol out of the engine for a start and you could even rinse the springs off with a little brake clean also.We race top alcohol screw blown dragster and we do this when we pull the pushrods for the day or after the race is over.Just may help out your issue with very little extra work involved.

Hmm, regulated Nitrogen sweep of the valve cover to the crank case should take care of that moisture.

In the world of hydraulic systems, there are oil polishing filter systems that will remove water. Drain the Meth oil, fill with processed oil , run the engine on gas with the oil polishing system running to pick up residual moisture. Then process the oil that was drained for the next go round.

I guess even just "over handling" valve springs can cause issues. Learn somethin everyday....lol...that's crazy. I've heard of that with head studs n whatnot but never thought of valve springs.

WATCHING the video I see Aden has a lot more responsibility in getting the car ready for racing and with that responsibility your instructing being responsible for the utmost safety of the car the person driving and who your racing against with the amount of horse power and speed that car traveling down the track so with that being said my dad would say everything tight and thiers no leaks send it good luck in Chicago

Electric or generator driven oil warmers before the startups and the vacuum setups like you mentioned will help and keep Mr Morris from pointing his finger at you so much hahahaha

I run methanol on street with water never have an issue with rem finished Nextek springs. but i always get it warn to cook off methanol.
