Side Activities on a Dairy Farm

Winter is the time to do some work in our forests. This time we're clearing trees that were knocked down by strong winds. We will process them and make some firewood, woodchips and sell some logs.

Farmer's POV (Point of View) is a channel where I share videos of different chores that are going on on our small family farm in Slovenia. We have 60 heads of cattle, mainly simmetal breed and we milk about 35 of them. We farm in a fairly hilly area so our equipment is relatively small. Currently we own 4 tractors: Fiat DT55-56, New Holland TN70DA, Deutz Fahr Agroplus 85 and John Deere 5085M. We work around 20 hectares of mainly grass fields and about 2,5 hectares for silage corn. We also have 7 hectares of forest.

You are always busy. Great video work. You are good at whatever you do. Hard work pulling out and cutting up those logs but they bring in good money I am sure. Was hoping for a few shots of that precious new girl. Cow, chickens, love seeing every part of your fine farm

My dad has been busy in the forest and has made the log pile quite large. Firewood making season isn't far away. It has been above 0 degrees for while now.

@@farmerspov4709 I worked on a German farm (170c/100h) and the Germans made amazing cheese. This is an excellent product, much more expensive than milk.

now your in my territory mister did that starting in 1965 done it with all kinds of skidding tools from bulldozers to skidders to horses and farm tractors now looks like youve used that trail a lot judjing from the trench in it, nice logs, where do they go

Always a joy to watch Gasper looks like you had nice weather for the timber work I find cutting timber very satisfying specially if its for you're own fire The winch you have for the timber thats some job what weight can it pull and it looks like it can pull a long distance I cut firewood in January had to carry it out a winch like yours would have made it a lot easier One thing was i was warm hauling it out and then when i burned it😂 Really enjoyed the video as always looking forward to the next one Best wishes from Ireland 🇨🇮

Yeah the weather was good for this kind of work. Winch is 4 tons with 50 m cable, in this instance we could use a couple meters more 😁 yeah your own firewood should warm you at least twice 😁 thank you for watching and commenting! 🙂 All the best to you!

Glad you haven’t been affected by rain like we have in the uk. I still haven’t taken a tractor onto a field since before Xmas as it’s that wet! Do you find the deutz or new Holland easier to service?

Oh yeah, I'm glad too 😶 New Holland because it has hydraulic filter on its side, with Deutz you have to crawl under 😁

Hi from the Basque Country, I have a 80hp Same Argon and I am looking for a forestry winch like you have, for similar purposes, the control is hidraulik? Do you recommend a mechanically controlled one? Very nice video as always!

Hi. Oh, ours is old and completely mechanic 😀 I'm not too familiar with modern forestry equipment but I can recommend Slovenian brands Krpan, Tajfun or Uniforest. Should have something for you 🙂 thank you 🙂
