Most traditional Chinese sweets are very dry because they are normally accompanied by tea. People in China don't really eat sweets or candy that is conventionally understood in the west, most of desserts in China are supposed to be more "fragrant" than sweet, thus the abundance of flower flavors, sesame flavors, beans and other nuts. Next time you try some more sweets, remember to drink tea!
