I still don't understand how to sideload random APKs that arent in the sidequest library. In your screenshots (at 5:59 for example) it shows some of the apps that i'd like to install. Do you have to push those in via PC, or can we use sidequest to install those?

there was no prompt when I first opened up sidequest that said to always open sidequest Installer when oculus is connected and when I allow access, sidequest doesn't show up in the apps to choose to open the USB device.

Some how I got the developer mode to show on my quest headset. It's in settings all the way down. But I can't find it on my phone

The Developer Mode is shown in the Quest options, but only "deactivate guardian" and "usb requests". I figured maybe it works already so i tried to follow the steps. installed the app allowed the usb connection and now a cant choose sidequest as app for usb connection -.-' maybe its because of the developer mode issue. Maybe its another issue. PS: The Support asked me to check if my organisation is verified and then said, they can't help me and will come back to me.

The mobile version misses one important thing... installing .apk directly. I can not try and install any preview versions of game/app without a pc

@@xerox4eva that's explained in the video how.. you'll need the pc ones to install the filemanager on quest via sideloading. You could do that with another android phone, which is able to push files via ADB ofc, but it's more easy with a computer

I hope they make this iOS compatible. There are a lot of Oculus users on that mobile platform and we’d appreciate it. If the desktop version can run on a Mac I can’t see why a mobile version couldn’t do the same.

Also I haven’t tried this but there is a Samsung app that allows an android client onto an app on your iOS device, it may work but because it is an app within an app it also may not send the request to connect to the quest

@@silvrsurfer I haven’t jailbroken my phone in years but I use to download from PlayStore all the time. Now only thing that may get in the way is using ADB. You can install an android OS on an iPhone but may not be worth it.

@@silenthashassin8912 I would just recommend getting a cheap android phone on like eBay Craigslist or Kijiji(if ur in Canada). Something under 100 that could get the job done.. but damn I was unaware you could actually run the Play store on iOS. Was it some sort of virtual machine or was it directly on the os, cuz I thought android & iOS apps used different coding languages

Sadly it uses ANDROID DEBUG BRIDGE so it makes sense, maybe one day there will be a Apple or alternative OS option but for now it probably will stay android only for a while.

Probably not, IOS does not really support things like USB debugging or USB OTG, it would be much more difficult for the app to work. Look at 8:17 for a more in depth review of it.

@@retobowbeans Not really. I got it to work by connecting to sidequest on my laptop and fiddling with the ADB options. But it soon stopped connecting again.

Quick Question: If I fully shut down either my Phone or my Quest will I have to re-do any steps to get my phone to re-connect to Sidequest? Mainly asking for Wireless usage here. I always shut down my quest after I'm done with it since I only get to play for about 4 hours a week max.

You’ll get an android and then find an app you want is only on iOS. Trust me, it will happen. 😂

Great video. Question for anyone who knows. Me and my sister both of quest 2's. I have an android phone, she has iOS. Can we use my one phone for both our quests? Sounds like we'd just have to change the ip address
