The scene where the old lady helps the red haired girl always gets me. I remember being afraid of growing up as a kid. I was also surrounded with a lot of middle aged and senior women growing up. They always made living in those eras of life so cool to me. They definitely helped me go through changes I didn’t necessarily want to go through at first.

I come back and watch this every year and almost cry every time. As a kid I admired it for its animation, but now I understand it’s real meaning.

When I was young I never understood it, now that I've grown up I've realized it means "appreciate while you're young, cause when you grow up things need more responsibility" and care for what you have for this while... Hits hard

I watch this at least once every couple months. What I always think about is that I’m old enough to understand that there’s a deeper meaning to this video, but young enough to not have figured out exactly what that meaning is. Someday, I’ll understand. Just like the others do. But for now, I’m just appreciating the fact that I know it has a deeper meaning, the beautiful animation, and the story.

i cried ... i dont do it much but i did it this time. For me the elder woman was my mother and the younger, red-haired girl was me and when that elder woman gave a hand and helped the young girl i saw how my mother, after all that she's been thru, helps in every way possible.

Love how the message is having a good mother/father figure (depending on your gender) will help you understand what to see coming as you grow older. And being a boy myself, nothing has ever taught me about the perspective of a girl better than this video. Not even classes of puberty and growth at school can be this impactful and understandable.

i love the part where the little girl is standing still. Looking afraid of what is along the sidewalk. Its a nice detail to her being afraid of growing up. And it might also be a way of calling out the audience. Maybe a young kid watched this and that made them nervous to grow up because of all the negative aspects. But the woman guides the kid through growing up and holds her hand showing that growing old is all about helping the younger generation discover themselves and tread the sidewalk of becoming an adult. Its touching and can be interprated as ,,You gather experience from your life so you can use that experience to guide people who havent lived their life yet.'' God this is touching. It seems every year around the same time this video comes around my feed and everyone time i watch it through. Honestly a wonderful video with an important message. 8 years ago i was only 9 and in that time i had already delt with the discovery of porn, murderers, guns, and my own near death experiences. Ive seen multiple of my own friends and family go through abuse and some have even died. At times i wish i could go back and do things different. But ive learned to accept hoe things and and to accept who i am for better or for worse and to just keep trying to improve. Lufe has passed me by in my 17 years in rapid sucession and honestly im not keeping up. More people have died in my life and ive had to watch more people ive cared about be abused by the world as i cant do anything to help. This video helps a bit in remembering the good parts of my life and for whats to come. When im in over my head i always remember this phrase i heard "In the end everything will be alright. If everything is not alright then its simply not the end" it helps keep me calm in all this madness and to anyone whos younger than me reading this comment just know that you arent alone despite feeling alone. Find someone, anyone you can talk too because i tried to bottle evetyrhing up and i did for years, and honestly it ruined me for the worst. Ive never thought about killing myself so much until then and now i regret it more than anything. But in a way i also appreciate that time as its allowed me to love the life i had even more. I havent been delt the best of hands but im getting by with what ive got. And what ive got its pretty decent by most standards.
