I never get tired of this flick!

I appreciated this movie so much when i saw it as a 20 something year old. Watching it again nudging on 40 and all i can say is, marry bloody well folks or not at all. The wrong wife can tear you apart.

This was an instant classic. Paul Giamatti and Thomas Haden Church giving us their best performances. A buddy movie and develops into a love story. This movie will still hold up fifty years from now guaranteed.

I love this film! I decided to watch it again after seeing Paul Giamatti in the Holdovers. But watching again I'm feeling somewhat nostalgic. When it first came out I was close to 40, same vintage as some of the actors. Twenty years later I'm still lovin' my Pinot and still feeling like 40 . Carpe Diem!

A timeless masterpiece.

I remember someone bought me this for Christmas one year and o read the back and thought "bloody wine tasting movie", forgot all about it, I was about 18 at the time, then I was bored one night while ill and noticed it was streaming so I thought, might as well give it a go as I might be dead in a month, thankfully I pulled through and what a great bloody film, it made me appreciate just how good an actor HCT and Paul Giamatti are and how good Masden and Oh are as actrssess, that part where he's running out butt naked still gets me, every now and then I've tried to get my wife to watch it but not yet, took me neatly 2 decades to appreciate this sublime movie, the writer director on his a game with a bromance crossed with a dramadey, amazing film and it got me through a rough patch, I'm an Irishman, ex BAF three combat tours amongst many other 'things' and before I left I made the lads watch it, at first it was all "c.mon Cap I'd rather clean the bogs than watch this" so I was like "alright i want bogs cleaned in entire barracks..." to which they were all "nah lets watch the pretentious film", about 30 minutes in I sat and they were glued to this movie, it's not what most people think, it's a heartwarming genuinely funny comedy drama.

Great movie - hidden gem and one of those films that just comes along once in a blue moon. Really enjoyed it on so many levels.

One of my favorite movies.

Basically Miles and Jack are not persons but two sides of every individual, One who is prune, cautious, mature, feary, lonely etc another who is childish, risk taker, adventurer etc. It revolves around how sometimes we become Miles and sometimes Jack.

I told my buddy about this movie (both of us originally from Santa Barbara CA) and watched it together then a couple of years later we decided to head up to Buellton California and actually stayed at the windmill inn before they renamed it sideways inn. That night we walked to Hitching Post and ended up meeting up with two girls from Solvang CA on tinder and ended up having an amazing time. It’s been 6 years since we took that trip but I think it’s time to go there again but this time actually start from LA to Buellton and stop at some of the movie locations and hopefully ending our trip with burgers and wine 🍷 🍔

Amazing small biz...The Hitching Post Restaurant at 0:45 (and a few other spots). Love that place and have gone several times since seeing it in this film...

Anyone who is a fan may want to check out The Holdovers, the director's new film. Even has Paul Giamatti again, playing a sort-of similar role.

These 2000’s trailers didn’t know how to market certain movies. This not only makes sideways look like a generic comedy but it spoils the whole movie.

This movie is so much funnier than the trailer! I loved it!

One thing about Paul Giamattis characters is that they are always working on an unfinished novel. Just saw the holdovers and he was working on a monograph. 😂

The first time I saw this trailer, I didn’t want to see the movie. I felt I’d already kind of seen and knew every plot twist and turn. This time, reading all the glowing comments, I’m thinking I want to check it out. Maybe there’s more to it than this.

Honesty and kindness helps… I’m not jack nor the writer in this movie. But, there’s always room for better explorations. I try to not take myself so seriously, there’s so much going on and I feel the gravitas. But, obviously it’s not all about me, but I matter. My family or trusted friends who love me… such narratives created. It’s all good. We can all or better. The trauma and experiences of us all are not hierarchical, but we also can’t diminish… it’s biology, mental, faith, secular… the connections abound. Enjoy the ride, but also seek and work better. I’m hoping and praying for all of us… I know how good we are, we sometimes just need some reminding.
