I really have to disagree. How could you want to see more of Jack? Everything you need to know about him is shown in his first two minutes of screen-time. There's not really much to him and it's very obvious what motivates and defines his whole character right away. If you have a problem with Miles' and Jack's friendship, you missed the point. The point being that they are very different and are an "odd couple". Their differences are what drive the whole underlying conflict in the movie and is what makes the movie so great. Jack is who he is. Miles is still trying to figure out himself. Miles has to figure out how to let his past go (Jack was a college roommate.), which he finally does at the end. Paul Giamatti absolutely drives this movie. His reactions to all the situations in the movie, in facial expressions, body language, and verbal are fantastic. He deserved the Oscar!

Hey Almost Forgotten Films, I'm glad to see you comment on my video as I appreciate your channel and your video on Mosquito Coast. Thanks for commenting and I understand your opinion. My appreciation for the film has grown with time and I feel it is Alexander Payne's best film so far. Hope you have a great day.

You don't understand Jack's plight. Just a joke

I love how their friendship is really established in the first few minutes. They each call each other out on their bullshit on different things right away. They know each other so well. Jack is obviously a Nomad. He really doesn’t seem compatible with anyone in the movie. His soon to be Wife, The Wine pour chick he’s banging, the Fat waitress, and Miles. Jack probably has Hundreds of friends. Some similar to him and others (like Miles) dis-similar. That’s just who Jack is. Miles is his best man by default. Miles definitely one of his oldest friends.

I LOVE it. I will watch it anytime I see it on. I find it strangely comforting for some reason. I think Miles/Paul Giamatti is captivating...just so compelling to watch. I know nothing about wine, and I don't like the stuff, and yet I am in love with everything about this movie.

Not sure where to start with this feedback. You might want to watch it again in about 10 years. Miles is a fascinating character that many many relate to (self defeating, masochistic). Jack is a simple minded narcissist. I’m baffled how you find him to be more intriguing

I apologize for saying this. It's obvious that you didn't go to college. It's common to be friends with your first roommate even when you're not similar.
