I just received some goodies from eBay to super detail engines. I searched for this type vid 2 years ago and no one did it. For turbos, heat tube and press down. Then thin wall and wrap with solder. Or those ferrules. I can’t find right size tho. I have you to thank for MEK. For pulleys I chock up in dremel and use like lathe. Comes out perfect. You should give a try. Think you’d like it. Ethernet cable stripped for bendable wires, brake lines and other plumbing.

awesome. nice and easy, really. :) but watchign you fiddlign with small plastic parts makes me reach out for the screen with "itchy" fingers, because I'm fiddly, too. wait, that came out wrong. anyway. here are some things that can be helpful as well: a bicycle's dynamo gave me a thin, soft brass wire. I use it for brake linings in 1:24 scale, but surely it works for other things, too. the wires they use to fix large model cars on their bases in the box are useful, too. I found a very, very thin copper wire inside a dead N-scale gauge actuator. I'm sure some model train fan has one or another of those little spools laying around. now defunct german N-scale railway maker, arnold-N, used to distribute a faked overhead lining in the shape of a thin rubber thread. ideal to simulate bowden wires that go in round loops across the engine compartment. and last, I found out that some filters for RL automatic gears use a thin wire mesh instead of paper, usually stainless steel or brass. you might find one at the local auto shop. you'd have to cut the filter housing open, though, so be careful and use working gloves. keep up your great works, and stay safe!

Most channels will just gloss over the engine without explaining, this level of detail is amazing. It is exactly what I've been needing. Thanks for sharing you skills and making all the vids! A good tip I learned years ago for simulating spark plug boots is to find a wire diameter that the insulation just fits over your plug wires, then ya take a tiny section of that larger insulation and cut it at a 45 degree angle. Rotate the 2 cut pieces to make a 90 degree elbow for engines with that type of plug boots and for all others ya just slide I tiny bit over the ends without cutting em and voila! Ya got yourself plug wires WITH plug boots on the ends. Now, I use this in 1/24th scale. For this scale you could simply paint the ends black and maybe have better results. Solder has quite a few good uses for other scale items. I've made D rings/shackles by bending a small piece into that U shape and then smashing the ends together and drilling a hole through for the pin and then making the pins out of solder by smashing one end flat and drilling a small hole through the smashed bit. If you really wanna get some great tips that you can apply here you really need to check out some of the 1/24th scale model forums. Those guys in there are on a whole new level of insanity.

This video is just what i need. For my model railway I'm building a scrapyard of cars. I have a hundred or so 1/75 plastic cars which form the basis of the scrapyard but what is missing are the scrap engines and engine parts so often found in these yards. My cars are smaller than your but I'm sure the principles of building scrap engines will be the same as building them for your cars.. Thanks a lot.

Fantastic demo my friend and perfect timing! I build 1/72 scale aircraft and I scratchbuild cockpit interiors on many older kits. Recently, I've really been enjoying messing with 1/64 cars, but never done anything like this. I have all the material at hand, so it's time to give it a go. May I just say that the plug wires are a bit....ahh... on the chunky side. Just sayin'....not fat shaming. Beautiful work!

Thanks for putting this up. I noticed in the background of a shot, a blue SWB Landrover, in 1/32 scale, made by Britains. It's a nice model, and I've had a couple (Safari, and Army) - it has coil sprung suspension, too - any plans for this? A 'Fast Show' 'Beast' ("It's gripped! Let's off-road!", etc.), perhaps? Those engines? Genius. Nice one.

You've inspired to actually take some action towards wanting to get into modelling. Bought some starter tools to get me started, tweezers, Emery boards etc, and got started on a little Airfix kit. It's supposed to be a 'simple' kits for kids but my god I was getting unbelievably frustrated at the fiddly bits on that...I now feel your pain.

For cam belts and the like, I usually cut a small strip of heat shrink tubing and put it around the cam wheels. A second over a lighter and it will tighten up around the wheels! For short lengths of metal tubing with a slight step in it (think muffler or maybe the central cylinder of a turbo) I like to extract the tip from a ball point pen. Once you've gotten the ink out of it, it makes a great part.

Detail Master sells very small solid core detailing wire for 1/25th scale cars to make a wiring harness with. It works very well for plug wires in 1/64th scale & because it is a solid core wire you can bend it to what ever shape you want & it stays there. & it comes in a number of colors as well .

Now I have finished watching the video, those engines do look great including the little pallets. I think using paperclips might be better than solder, so you could solder the end of the pipes together into a ferrel.

I loved the weapons rack when it was working. I was never without a weapon when I needed one. I want to be able to put them into my ship and just always have it available. I don't really care about subscriber weapons - it doesn't matter to me if my rifle is a pretty shade of green or whatever, as long it's functional and saves in the ship. They could just *fix* that feature so that people can't use it to mass dupe instead of nixing it.
