Truly beautiful England - despite the eroding cliffs

I was in England for my sister's wedding in the mid 1970s. Beautiful country, beautiful people. Best two weeks of my life.

Yikes those homes have an expiration date.

Its a real shame isn't it, I was looking at the old google images of that location and a large section has eroded over the years. I don't think the homeowners gave it a second thought when buying the properties due to the cliff being so far away at the time. i really feel for these people

Yes I just looked at it on google myself and went to the street view, the front of the homes look very nice too. How many more years do you reckon until they're gone?

I would say another 20 or 30 years before the edge gets half way to the houses, then at that point, i think they are classed as unsafe.

If I lived in those houses I’d have a quarry full of rocks tipped on that edge , I’d also have a dozer shamfer the cliff edge to take the weight off the top, can’t believe they just sit and do nothing

Could they be saved by sloping the cliff some how

Sure but you would have to shift Dem houses out of this pic and stop the sea waves permanently! 😂

Triassic red sandstones and mudstones. Not geologically stable.

So tell me, how many centuries have these cliffs been collapsing?

Yes I know , would be interesting to see the coastline back in the 1800’s
