I suppose my choice for best (worst?) 'omission' (not even Honorable Mention?) is "Porgy and Bess". This was the second Sidney movie I saw (after "The Defiant Ones") in the theatre (I was 8), and I was quite moved with the powerful themes underlying and surrounding the lives of its characters. Sidney brought a raw power and persuasiveness to his role as Porgy, and I think this is when I began to respect and look forward to his roles (my favorite of his subsequent films: "Lilies of the Field", "A Patch of Blue", "To Sir, with Love", and "In the Heat of the Night"). Thank you for your channel, and your in-depth commentary on so many great performers, and human beings!
