I had the honor of flying on the Red Eye and he was seated next to me.....he did not like turbulence...when he spoke it was with LOVE about his daughters, he was so proud to brag. Thank God we live in a time that we have his films for posterity - to LEARN from and to be in Awe of his work.

In The Heat Of The Night is a contender for my favourite film. To Sir With Love will always be special to me. God speed you to heaven Sidney and look up my dad when you get there. I know he will be pleased to see you. God bless you, you are one of the good guys.

Well, I'm not from the 60s, I'm from the 80s but I got to know about Sir Sidney Poitier when I was a teenage boy while I was watching my first ever live Oscars ceremony on TV, where Sidney was honored with an Honorary Oscar...It was also the same night when my favorite actor Denzel Washington had been nominated and ended up winning his first ever best actor Oscar....Up until that time, I didn't know who Sidney was....when Denzel presented Sidney with the tribute, Sidney walked on stage in style and grace.....And boy! I was completely smitten by his style....Then everyone present at the ceremony stood on their feet and it was the longest standing ovation I had ever seen in my life for any performer....And then Sidney took the mic and started speaking....And Man! That's when I decided..."From now on, I'm gonna learn to speak like Sidney...I'm gonna be as articulate and fluent as Sidney!" And then I watched the most of Sidney's great movie performances....Lilies Of The Field, To Sir, With Love, In The Heat Of The Night, The Jackal, The Defiant Ones, Guess, Who's Coming To Dinner, and Edge Of The City....to name a few.....Sidney's performances are a way of life for me...."They call me Mr. Tibbs!" Thank you for making such a beautiful montage of his movie performances....God bless you....And Rest in peace Sidney.....Thank you for your graceful presence on the planet earth, Sir Sidney Poitier....✊😊
