Using the Sidney Tractor Tree Saw on the Kubota L2501 to clear invasive elm trees off an old golf course. So satisfying!

Yes. They will grow back. Either brush cut regularly or spray stump killer on each stump.

Where did you find this? Did you buy? I only need it for 2 days so rental option is what I cannot seem to find. Ideas?

Chemical wise, look up "crossbow" you can mix it with water for a foliar or with diesel to treat stumps

@@ZachTate yes. There was a vid. That gave 10% code off. Plus around here stump removal is around $200 per. I only have 26hp so it goes slow on hard wood. Hardest thing for me is being turned around for so long. Blown back care of Army.

Forestry mower would solve tree and stump issue, of course that requires a skid steer. Cool saw, tho, kinda wish I had a use for one!

Sold my skid steer… too old and unreliable. But a forestry mower is definitely on the list for the future!

Mix up some glyphosate heavy and broadcast spray the entire area. For any stumps greater than 3 inches drill a hole about 4" deep in it and fill it with straight glyphosate. To make sure it's "dead dead" you could add about a 4% solution of triclopyr with the glyphosate broadcast spray.

Thanks for the advice Chris! I’m a little hesitant to spray too many chemicals (personal health concerns) but it definitely sounds like that would do the trick at preventing these pesky trees from growing right back. Do you recommend wearing any protective gear when broadcast spraying this mixture?

@@JoelGaeddert long sleeve pants and shirt with gloves and mask. I was using a pull behind boom sprayer which was about 18" above the ground. If you're going to be hand spraying, wear rubber boots.

Hey buddy nice video. This is an attachement I was looking for. However, it says: "Designed for tractors with greater than 30HP" An issue running it on your L2501? I'm looking to get the L2501 myself, but don't want to go up in HP, so I don't have to mess with the emission system. Was wondering if it worked pretty well for yah?
@JoelGaeddert
@JoelGaeddert 3 жыл бұрын
Thanks man. Honestly the tractor is a little under-powered for a saw this big. I totally stalled the engine a couple times when the trees fell directly down onto the blade and stopped it from spinning simply due to the weight of the tree. I suppose that also meant my slip clutch wasn’t set correctly. So if I had to do it over again I would buy the larger tractor and not worry about the emissions system. But as you can see from the videos I’ve made it does work in the end if you move a little more slowly and make sure that the tree falls away from the blade. I cut an approximately 20” diameter cedar tree with it no problem! Just made several cuts from different angles.

The tractor is probably too small for the saw in reality, but the saw fit and the tractor ran it like I champ! I took it pretty slow on larger trees. Small stuff obviously wasn’t an issue.

ABSOLUTELY! I have a little 5’ rotary cutter that will cut that stuff all day long. I also have a 9ft dual spindle that cuts 6” singles and makes mince meat of anything smaller and as thick as this video.
