Hi Monique! I am so excited you're creating your isomalt sculpture!! Yes if you pour on the teflon mat you can pick up that texture of the mat in the isomalt. I use the torch very close to the isomalt to melt this texture away, I completely melt the surface, so it's good to be heavy handed for this! As far as melting with the glaze on it, I try not to ever melt pieces that have been glazed, it may work in a pinch for small decorations like gems and accents, but anything that needs to hold weight or be pulled and blown you don't want to use isomalt that has glaze mixed in.
