Battle of Dol Guldur 3019TA -
The forces of the Galadrim with help from the Ents and some help from rohan have resisted the attempt of the forces of Sauron to destroy the elves of Lothlorien.Four times they were attacked and in each the mighty elves [with sometimes the help of allies] have driven back the forces of darkness. But in every battle there is a moment to counter and the time is now ....
So then on March 28, Celeborn led many Elves from Lothlórien across the river Anduin in a fleet of boats. The elves invaded. When they reached Dol Guldur, a defense had already been prepared and the siege endured some days. The usual guardians, the Nazgûl, were gone, and the forces from Dol Guldur prepared to counter the enemy forces of the elves with wargs and spiders collected from the forest of mirkwood at a last attempt to throw back the forces of the elves.
But Galadriel herself is said to also be bringing her magic to bear on the mighty fortress....can the elves under Celeborn , Haldir and Radagast destroy the orcs or will the magic of the elves have to be brought forth once again to destroy the guardians of the evil fortress....
aftermath : When the fortress was surrounded, Galadriel slowly walked to the fortified gate of the fortress. Orcish arrows flew about her, yet her Elven Ring protected her. With a gentle push from her ladyship, the gates swung forward and Galadriel with her ring cast down the walls, foul pits, crevices, caused grasses, and fruit trees to grow. The evil realm of Dol Guldur was finally destroyed. Galadriel caused an Elanor flower to grow in the middle of the old fortress. The forest was cleansed.
On April 6, Celeborn and King Thranduil met in the midst of the forest and renamed it Eryn Lasgalen "wood of green leaves". Celeborn took the land south of The Narrows for himself and named it East Lórien, while Thranduil took all wood north of the Mountains of Mirkwood, and they gave the middle of the wood to the Beornings and Woodmen.

Why do I block out the Mini-Map with annotations for Sub battle replays?
I block it out because the Mini-Map gives away who sent in the battle replay. And in most cases whoever sends in the battle replay wins the battle. So I block it to keep it a surprise :D

Only 11 minutes in and this is already one of the best battles I've seen on this channel. The action is immediate, the terrain varied and interesting, the forces seem fairly evenly matched. Excellent design and execution.

I remembered this battle in the RTS Lotr game. You had Rivendale and Murkwood elves and Iron mountain dwarf forces. it was so awesome.

Huh funny, in one of your recent videos there was a guy mentioning how the orcs always seemed to be the ones on the offensive in your third age-videos, and I replied using this exact battle as an example of a time they were on the defensive! Cool :D

I remember storming that one in my Dale campaign, my first third age campaign ever. I had recently wiped out the easterlings and attacked with mostly dalesmen, some dale swordsmen and four units of rangers. I can't believe I won that one. The dalesmen once again proved their worth and killed many more orcs than they lost men. And when the outer wall was secured I moved up the rangers and let them shoot the last defenders to bits. Note to next time, the place needs at least four gadraughts defending it.

Cleanse the darkness off of Mirkwood is important and to do that Dol Guldur must fall.

The defenders managed to loose a battle quite easy to win. When I saw the orcs going into the open field to attack the elves it was clear that the defender didn't know exactly what to do...

+Kirby Cantos The Evil factions should always be on the offense in a siege, because they have the worst units, *especially* OotMM and Gundabad. They were outnumbered, their units only really work with numbers advantage, and they were fighting the Elves, who have the best quality troops in the game. Unless the elven players were apes, they had it in the bag.

+Ismar Yeah, I don't think that there is any chance of it coming near Third Age in terms of gameplay. Obviously the graphics will be a lot better, but Third Age still looks decent, and the gameplay is what matter. Third Age is going to stay as the best Lord of the Rings mod for any game, for a while, it seems.

Is it just me, or is Paladin Bob's insistence on using fire arrows really, REALLY annoying? I mean, he basically sacrificed hundreds of potential kills to try and get near-full-strength units who were certain of victory to rout.
