I was diagnosed with seizures back in 2018, and I remember I had an MRI. The cool thing is it was built by Siemens. The nice thing is my parents had a friend that works for Siemens. In fact, his son was in my boy scout troop. That's why it brought back memories

I get that. A lot of people are claustrophobic about MRI’s. I’ve had 100’s for test purposes. You kind of get over it after awhile. I will say this. If you absolutely HAVE to have an MRI, see if you can get a sedative first. That’ll help. An MRI can see way more then a CT or X-ray...

@Rob Knight I believe that is the case. I hope that you are ok. Most patients experience what you felt. Getting to the point where the Dr.’s wanna see inside does make it “real”. I can say this, if you do have some pathology, get on a Keto diet as soon as possible and if it is something like a tumor, get another opinion. I would rather have 5 Dr.’s looking than one. I hope it’s nothing!!!

Years ago I got a surplussed MRI in a semi trailer and brought it back to life. It used windows NT as the control computer OS. The process for resurrection was a learning curve of all sorts of things. The most nerve racking part was recharging the magnet with the cryogenic fluids. They cost about 30 grand which was more than I bought the whole trailer for. Took about 4 days. Next was recharging the magnet coil itself followed by lots of calibrations to get the field geometry correct. Eventually a hospital in Reedsberg WI rented it for a few months then purchased it outright. ❤

Sure, the new vehicle is, well, new, but because it's new, you don't yet know all of the quirks that 20 years of innovation have brought to light. Or at least that's my take.

That’s for sure! That would be the Diffusion Weighted Imaging (DWI) sequence as Siemens refers the Diffusion sequence to... also called Diffusion Tensor Imaging (DTI) by other MRI manufacturers such as Philips or General Electric (GE) for example! This sequence is very essential for showing possible strokes or seizures as two examples! It’s one of the loudest sequences for any sequences for any scan! And the “Z” gradient coil (one of the three gradient coils which are smaller magnets) makes big thumps underneath the RF (Radio Frequency) coils that you will feel. Some patients find it difficult to handle, but for me after having two MRI Brain scans in a 9.5 year timeframe (first was in a 1997 Philips Gyroscan series 1.5T back on December 27, 2008 and the 2nd was in a Siemens Magnetom Skyra 3T MRI back on February 23rd, 2018!), I found it pretty satisfying! I was a little nervous about my first MRI, but more excited than nervous believe it or not! I got more into it since the 1st one! My latest MRI for diagnostic imaging for possible seizure activity (results came out negative from the examination) I was not nervous about the MRI one bit! Only thing I was concerned about was the results, but came back negative! The heavy thumps from that gradient coil during the DWI sequence was like getting a back massage! 😉 MRI is a beyond amazing medical technology for diagnostic imaging or research such as Functional MRI (fMRI)!
