Learn the tricks and tips for working with assembly pattern components using Siemens NX 12 (formerly Unigraphics or UG). This video shows you how to create linear, circular and most importantly, referenced patterns. Referenced patterns use a pattern from a component of your assembly to control the number of and location of other components in your assembly.

I like the video! I was looking for using reference method. Say I have 5 holes, and I use the Fastner for 3 of them set at flushed with the surface, but two of them are offset by .100, because something else is going under the head of the fastner. So I delete the two, and use the same type fastner for offsetting it, that is not part of the pattern components, is this the best method?

Hello, is there a setting to change to hide the Patterned Components on my Assembly Navigator. When i pattern the components it basically creates a long list of the parts in the Assembly Navigator that I patterened. It is not a clean Assembly Tree like yours.

Hello, if you right click on one of the patterned components you can select pack, and that will combine all instances of that component on your assembly navigator. If you ever need to see all of them again you can right click and unpack.

@@MorrisonInst1973 Thanks! I found out it was best to set my Customer Default settings to "Pack"
