The Liao Dao from LK Chen is a 1:1 recreation of an existion 1000 year old sword from the Khitan-Liao dynasty. There are still many mysteries to the sword; mainly, when and where it was used (guards, soldiers, cavalry... on or off the battlefield) and the functions of certain design aspects (the flat pommel and small hole in the pommel). I've found it to be an excellent cutting sword, and a great zhanmadao for technique and forms training.

Great overview boss! What a fearsome weapon. Love how smoothly you can move a blade that large around. Will be interesting to see how effectively reverse strikes with the spine are, as that is something usually reserved for polearm sized weapons. It really is like a “bite-sized” polearm in some respects!

😅From now on I'm referring to this sword as "Bite-sized!" I haven't fully explored striking with the spine, and although it doesn't have the reach or momentum gain as the long handled weapons, I'm hoping that the twin peaks will be somewhat decent for impact. We'll see!

Uhuuuuu a very nice looking sword. This design makes me want to get it into my hands and try it out ❤ Is there a tratize/Manuscript which describes how to use it? Good video as always, Sifu!

Unfortunately no, there were no manuscripts for this weapon. t does however fit quite nicely with the later Ming/Qing Dynasty methods of Zhan Ma Dao Horse Chopper techniques.
