Not to bash Sig or praise Springfield but my Hellcat is around 700 rounds in with a variety of bullets including hollow points, and lots of reloads including 147gr and 124gr flat points and 115gr fmj. Just saying, if you carry a weapon, it needs to be reliable.
@countryboyguns

My point exactly! I want a Hellcat so bad I can taste it...but back to the point at hand, that's why I focused on this gun so much more than others. I REQUIRE reliability in a gun that I may carry for defensive purposes. To me, that's a non negotiable point. I'm glad your Hellcat is running well for you. If my standard 365 after warrantee work ends up being reliable, I'd love to compare the two platforms and see which one I like better, so your experience bodes well for that video (series?). Thank you for the comment and the info!

I haven't had any issues but did notice a problem. When loading a mag if those rounds aren't seated all the way at the back of the mag it looks like it would cause a ftf. I'm always careful when loading my mags but it does raise the question if my mag gets jossled around too much could it produce a ftf
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 3 жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know, and I think that depends on the gun, the mags, and the ammo. I personally check my defensive guns every time I pull them out of the safe. Whether I'm carrying them, bringing them along in a vehicle, or just putting them next to the bed I always check the chamber, any safeties, optics, lights, and mags. Part of my mag check is to slap the back of the mag to make sure all the rounds are as far to the rear as possible to give the gun the best chance of cycling properly. That being said, I've never noticed a failure due to ammo getting jossled a bit forward, and I even have some guns that will pull rounds forward in the mag as they're cycling and they still run fine even then.

I had the same issue at around 1,500 rounds, sent it back to Sig in which they replaced the extractor, extractor spring and recoil spring. It ran great until it cleared 3,200 rounds and the extraction issues came back. I purchased mine in June of 2018.

Good to know, Jason. Since they changed the extractor geometry, which forced them to change the milling on the slide as well, I'm hoping my gun with those 2 replacements will work perfectly from now on. I guess we'll see once we don't have to take out a second mortgage just to buy 9mm lol.

Well that gives me something less than a warm-fuzzy feeling. I'm curious to see what the root cause is, it does sound like a weak extractor spring unless you're seeing some abnormal wear on the extractor itself. I had a 229 do that a few years ago, ran like a top for the first 400-ish rounds (bought it used, no clue how many rounds went through it before I got it) then it started having failure to extracts. Sent it off to Sig for service, they sent back a whole new slide assembly and it worked like it was designed after that.
@countryboyguns

I have a sneaking suspicion it's a weak extractor spring coupled with the particular version (summer 2018) of extractor I have. Stay tuned, I have another video coming soon that you'll be interested in.

Did you guys clean the sig gunk out before firing straight out of the box? I didn't and was experiencing failure to return to battery. Cleaned all the sig preservative crap out of there and haven't had that issue since. But, sometimes when I put in a fresh mag the slide closes on it's own, and when that happens- the slide doesn't stay open when the mag is empty. Totally weird.
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 3 жыл бұрын
That's a whole hodge podge of weird issues. I don't typically clean my guns before firing them. I'll check the bore for obstructions or machine marks and look the parts over to make sure nothing is broken or wonky looking. I don't even usually add lube to dry guns right out of the box. I want to see how it'll perform as it's sold to the consumer before I start doing anything, but that's just my methodology. I definitely don't think it's a bad idea to give a gun a thorough cleaning out of the box.

I recently purchased a SIG 365. Cleaned it went to the range and out of a box of fifty rounds I had Seven failure to extract. The extractor spring was so weak I could push the extractor with my finger. Back at home I removed the extractor spring, it was quite weak. I replaced it with a much stiffer extractor spring. Back at the range today I ran two hundred rounds with no problem. I intend to carry it after I run another three hundred rounds through it.

I've only ever had Sig factory parts in that gun. I've sent it back twice and the first time they replaced the extractor and slide. I don't remember if they replaced the extractor spring, but it wouldn't surprise me given that they replaced 2 other major parts that required removal of the spring.

Great video. I just picked one up that was made on 4 Feb 2021. My first time taking it to shoot didn't go as well as I hoped. I only fired around 50 rounds through it, but had 6 or 7 times where it failed to properly feed the next round and the slide was still slightly open with the round not fully seated in the barrel. I'm going to give the gun another chance considering it was brand new, and I was using terrible blazer ammo (the only gun I can get that ammo to run in without problems is my glock 17). I haven't experienced any failures to extract yet, but I'll keep a lookout.

I already called them once over this gun (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/eLZzfpaI1L7Sd6M.html) and the first rep I talked to basically blamed me, saying essentially that I shouldn't expect the gun to be reliable until I had at least 1000 rounds of premium (aka expensive) defensive ammo through it as a break in period, which I don't think any modern firearm should require. The second time I called, they created an RMA and a shipping label for me (kzfaq.info/get/bejne/lb-JfrNjpqiul5s.html). I showed the slip documenting the work they performed in this video, and I had this issue after that warrantee work. I'm still willing to give the gun and Sig a chance, but I don't feel like going through that whole ordeal again and spending my money on today's ammo prices to most likely run into another problem with the gun. If Sig wants to change my mind on this gun, I would love to chat with them and discuss what that process looks like and I would do so open mindedly and give the gun another fair shake.

I wonder if some guys with big hands interfere with the slide on such a small gun. Could that cause malfunctions?
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 2 жыл бұрын
It definitely can. I've never seen a malfunction on a handgun come from putting pressure on the side of the slide (with the thumbs for example) except maybe on a .22. I have seen (and experienced) malfunctions from part of the hand getting in the way of the rearward motion of the slide from the back of the gun however. That's why people with larger hands tend to prefer beavertails on the rear of their handguns. Great question!

I have an X-Macro Tacops that was perfectly reliable for about 700-800 rounds then it started having the exact same issue. I have two different barrels (one is threaded) and it did it with both barrels. I polished the chambers and did a basic field strip cleaning and it was good for about 20 rounds. I decided to take the extractor out and cleaned it and the extractor channel in the slide with a q-tip and lightly oiled it and it has been reliable for 140 rounds so far, I need to shoot it more but I'm hoping it was just a cleaning issue. There seems to be a theme with these guns having the same issues at roughly the same round count. If i can find a stronger spring the same size I plan to replace it as I think it's a little on the weak side. Any updates on your gun?

@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns Жыл бұрын
I honestly don't know. The gun does get much hotter much quicker for me than others in its size class. I don't know what your hand tolerance is for heat. For example, my wife can handle very hot food in the kitchen that burns me when she asks me to handle it. To be honest, I don't think the heat issue is something Sig would be able to fix. How much experience do you have with the smaller 9mm pistols? If guns like the Ruger LC9, Glock 43x, S&W Shield Plus, and Springfield Hellcat are drastically less hot in your experience, then the 365 may simply not be the right choice for you. If you have little experience with smaller pistols, then smaller guns just may not be the right choice for you. I'm sorry I can't give you a definitive answer. If you haven't really messed with smaller pistols, see if you can go to a range that rents them and try several types. If you have the same issue, then that may give you a better idea of what will and won't work for you.

Why the hell would anyone ever shoot anything but brass in a firearm that costs more than a couple hundred bucks?
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 2 жыл бұрын
I guess it depends. I really want to buy an AK, but a decent one costs over $1K these days. I'd still shoot a ton of steel cased ammo through it. Maybe during an ammo shortage that's all you can find to train with. Maybe you decided to save up with a very inflexible budget to buy a quality gun and quality accessories for it but you can't afford quality ammo for training, so you get steel because it gives you more practice for the limited funds you can spend on ammo. My philosophy has changed on this over the years if I'm being honest. I used to have a hard line on not running steel cased ammo through anything except my commie guns. These days I still prefer brass for practice and nickel for defensive ammo, but I wouldn't have any issue with using steel case if that's all I can get my hands on. That being said, everyone is different and there is no "right" answer as far as I'm concerned.
@2S1L3NT
@2S1L3NT 2 жыл бұрын
@@countryboyguns Well to be fair all I've ever run in my AKs and 7.62x39 AR's is steel case... but that's basically the only option for that caliber as well. Brass is available, but theres no point in running it or paying that price. Also, the case taper is designed to release steel case without issue. Nobody should be shooting straight wall steel case in any firearm though. It's not soft enough to release correctly.
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 2 жыл бұрын
Here again, I tend to agree with you, but I also see exceptions to that thought process. I don't think using steel cased .45 acp or .38 special as bad depending on the circumstances. Training is training and getting 20% more live fire reps is significant, especially if money is a factor. And if someone is using steel cased ammo for defensive use because that's all they can afford or all they can find, then I can't fault them. If I had to choose between throwing a Glock 30 at a bad guy or firing a steel cased 230 grain .45 acp at them, I'd choose the crap ammo all day long. I definitely still prefer better ammo, even for practice or just for fun, but there is still value in having a cheap bang vs no bang when you pull the trigger.

@@countryboyguns yeah. Supposedly, after July 2018 the trigger spring, firing pin, and other issuses had been resolved. The extractor issue seems to be very uncommon, but not relegated to the Pre-July 365s. Though, it is an easy enough issue to fix. Still, I think I'm gonna replace some things when I swap the frame with an XL. For $20 I'll just keep a spare extractor kit laying around.

I’m a novice gun owner and just traded my revolver with some cash for a 365. I noticed that when the magazine is full it really takes a hard push to put it in the gun. Is this common?
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 4 жыл бұрын
Great question, Ben! That is a fairly common experience with magazine fed guns across the board. Some guns will be worse about it than others. A great example of this is the most common manual of arms for loading an MP5 type platform. Because that design doesn't lock open on the last shot fired, the best practice, as I understand it, is to manually lock the bolt to the rear before inserting a fresh mag because it's very difficult to insert a full mag on a closed bolt. I also have the same issues with brand new AR mags, but it lessens as I use them more. My P365 also requires a bit of force on a full mag with the slide forward. If you insert the magazine quickly and with some...gusto...then pull on the baseplate to make sure it's seated, you should be fine. In fact, I had an issue a couple of times on this outing where the slide didn't lock open on an empty mag. I inserted a new mag before realizing that the slide was forward, but had no problems with them falling out of the gun. Long reply, I know, but the bottom line is that it just takes some practice. Please feel free to ask any other questions you may have!

@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the sub, Ben. Just remember; everyone starts from zero. No one comes out of the womb a gun expert. With time and training, you'll be surprised how far you can get in a short amount of time. I know a lot of women carry the P365. However, just in case your lady friend ends up not liking it because it's too snappy or small for her, I recommend getting her to try the XL as a carry gun. For home or vehicle defense, I highly recommend a full size gun in 9mm (Glock 17/19/19X, S&W M&P9, etc). She may think it's too big at first, as a lot of new shooters (particularly women) tend to think bigger guns will recoil more, which is ALMOST never the case. One more piece of unsolicited advice: be patient and calm with her. Don't try to push any particular gun or item on her because it's what you think she should use. If she enjoys shooting, she'll keep doing it. And if she has a say in what her gear is (unless it's dangerous), she'll be much more invested in learning and training. That's the approach I've taken with Mrs. Country and it's working beautifully!

I honestly can't answer that for you. It could be ammo, possibly some debris in the striker channel, or maybe even something else. Maybe even a mag of carry ammo if I was still unsure after that. At the end of the day, your personal comfort level with the gun is what's the most important.

For concealed carry, I can recommend the Sig P365XL, S&W Shield, Springfield XDs, and Glock 43 from experience. I would also feel comfortable with a Glock 43x or 48, Springfield Hellcat, or FN 503. I don't have any personal experience with any of those guns, so I can only say that I think they're good options based on what I know and what people I trust are saying about them. @@countryboyguns - Yeah, the slide lock issue is not the fault of the gun for sure .. that's all me 😁 I personally love my P365 and believe it is perhaps the best EDC currently available, at least for a micro sized carry pistol. I have troubles concealing my P320-RXP XCompact except during winter months. I am not really very good at concealing, it's just my body type that makes it a little difficult. The P365 is easy though, it's so small. A larger firearm is definitely much easier to manufacture for reliability, as soon as you get this small it becomes difficult to achieve solid reliability. It's just the way it is. Nothing is perfect, but I believe the P365 is pretty darned good. I dislike some of the people out there that act as though Sig purposefully makes flawed firearms. There isn't a manufacturer on the planet that hasn't had issues with their firearms. Sig seems to address issues rapidly, as they should .. they have a vested interest in doing so. Overall I believe Sig Sauer is a solid and reputable manufacturer and I will continue to buy and use their products for many years to come. I never ever owned a Sig of any kind. Started out with 1911 (mainly Colts and never had issues except sometimes with other than FMJ rounds). As a police officer in the 70’s mainly had to carry revolvers. S&W (heavy frames - .357 Magnum), then Glocks. I absolutely never had any issue with Glocks (mainly because unlike so many individuals, I never tried to customize them or change out factory parts). Pull the trigger it fires! So I thought the new Sig P365 would be a great EDC pistol. Purchased it, took it home and boy was I disappointed🤨. Extraction and ejection issues, mag issues, ammo issues (particularly when shooting Sig premium ammo😳). Terrible pistol! But it is easy to carry concealed. I guess Sig did that so once the word got out about how bad it was, carrying it concealed kept you from being laughed at by all the other shooters😂

i have had so many issues with my P365XL and I’m only about 150 rounds in. Mostly notably failure to feed from the magazine with 3-5 hollow point rounds left.The 12 round magazines fail to fully seat all the time with one good hard tap, making me paranoid and have to check it’s seated with two or three taps and sometimes a pull. It’s also very inaccurate for some reason. The Glock 43X is SO much more accurate when I shoot it. I hate the presentation angle, and I hate the flat trigger. It’s a beautiful thing, but that’s where it ends. What good are 12 round mags if you can only shoot 7 bullets? I never should have cheated on Glock.

In fact it jams EVER time I try. So I decided to clean it. The slide lock wont hold the slide back when I try that. The slide lock wont hold with an empty mag. I have a P365 micro nitron and I have emailed sig to see about sending the gun back. Sig said send pictures and explain which I did. Sig response well thats normal for sig. So when I put my magazine in the gun it can have one bullet of fully loaded and I still have to force it to chamber a round. I have tried shooting it over and over and everything time I shoot it I become mor discouraged by it. If it was a life or death situation I wouldn't recommend it because the time it takes for me to force feed a round in the camber it ridiculous.

The slide should definitely go into battery on a fully loaded mag. I do wonder if you might be riding the slide forward instead of pulling it all the way to the rear and releasing it, because that can cause a failure to feed on pretty much any semi auto. I'm also a big believer of carrying with a round chambered because of issues exactly like this one.

My mags are pretty tight too. I haven't had any issues getting them to load to capacity or to seat on a closed slide, but I do need to give them a bit of extra umph. Might not be a bad idea to buy another mag before you reach out to them. If it's the same way, then it's probably not warrantee worthy. If the new mag gives you less trouble, then you'll have an extra and hopefully they can help you with the originals.

Which gun concealable is most reliable.
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns Жыл бұрын
I don't have access to every gun, and the true definition of "concealable" differs from person to person based on body type and their sense of fashion and comfort. That means I can't give you a definite answer. For example, to me a Glock 17 is concealable and relatively comfortable. Many others would say that's not the case for them. Now if we remove the concealable part of the question, there are many guns of many sizes that are generally recognized as reliable. I've seen very very few reports of Glocks having issues. Same with Smith and Wesson and others. The list goes on and on. I hate to frame my answer like this, but I think you should first decide what size category you can feasibly conceal and are willing to carry all day, then start looking at tons of reviews of guns that fit that mold to get a wide spectrum of experiences and opinions about reliability. If you can, go to a range that rents the guns you're interested in and try them out. We live in a great time for the number of options we have for carry so we can be pickier about our carry guns. The downside is that it's harder to choose the one that fits our lifestyle and preferences because the "menu" has so many options and it's expensive to really narrow down what we really want.
@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns Жыл бұрын
If you're looking for a good starting point, I have experience with the Glock 17, 19, 26, and 43X as well as the Smith and Wesson M&P9 Compact, Shield, and Shield Plus. Those guns have been extremely reliable for me over many rounds and I trust them. I do occasionally carry other guns in my collection, but I don't trust them as much. Some of them have given me issues in the past and some I just don't have as much trigger time with. At the end of the day, a carry gun is a very personal choice. What you see/read/hear/watch online should be a starting point in your search for your carry gun but it should not be the sole deciding factor in what you choose to spend your money on to protect yourself with.

@countryboyguns
@countryboyguns 4 жыл бұрын
Thank you for the sub! I don't have an exact round count because I bought the gun before I started the channel and, therefore, tracking such things. I know it's between 600-700 at least (if you go back and watch my "Testing the Sig P365" video, I put a more accurate, but still conservative round count throughout that video). I started with a conservative estimate when I made the earlier videos on the gun, as I was loosely tracking the round count on it because I knew the type had issues. From everything I'm hearing and what I understand, the 2019 and newer guns should be good to go. However, I can't guarantee that personally. I'm one of those guys that cleans his guns after every range session, so it was cleaned and lubed when I got out there that day. If you're concerned, I think that's totally justified. I personally have a requirement for 1K rds with 0 failures for this gun. Now that it had malfunctions, the counter has reset to 0. I recommend that same failsafe for you, but if you don't want to risk it, but still want something very similar to this, I recommend the P365XL. I've heard of none of the same issues with it, and Mrs. Country has one that has been great so far, admittedly with a much lower round count so far. I hope this helped your decision making process.

Very disappointed in mine. Just bought it YESTERDAY! Born on date 10-27-2020. Very first shot was a stovepipe failure to extract. I was shooting my carry ammo which is underwood extreme defender 90 grain. First 2 mags had 4-5 failures to return to battery! Switched up to American Eagle 115 grain fmj's and ran 2 mags ok. Took it back out this morning and ran 2 mags of 124 grain sig vcrown elite JHP's and again had 4-5 failures to return to battery! Again switched to the AE 115 gr fmj's and ran 2 mags ok. So disappointed that my new $600 gun will not consistently run neither of my carry ammo's. With the ammo situation such as it is I can't, at this time, fire enough ammo through it to "break it in" and test it enough to bet my life on it. My $240 Taurus G2C will remain my EDC for now as I have 2500 flawless rounds through it with ALL types of ammo. Steel, aluminum, brass, reloads, several types of hollow points and the underwood's with ZERO issues. If Taurus can build such a cheap gum that will run any ammo flawlessly OUT OF THE BOX, then WHY CAN'T SIG SAUER? I'm extremely concerned about this gun at this point. It'll just go in my safe until I'm able to get enough ammo to properly test it. 😥

@@countryboyguns so I have an update. After running 150 rounds of fmj's through it today with no malfunctions I was able to run 20 rounds each of both of my carry ammo's through it with no issues. May e it's finally "broke in". It still concerns me that it had so many failures to return to battery out of the box. The issue APPEARS to be ironed out now but I still can't trust it as my edc until I am able to run a lot more ammo through it. I want to run 500 more fmj's and 100 more self defense rounds through it with no malfunctions before I start carrying it. Hopefully I can find enough ammo to be able to do that soon.
