After reviewing many pistols, I have received a lot questions about my preferred carry gun and when it comes to carry options - the Sig P365 is my #1 option and in this video I explain many of the reasons why. I also discuss why my Glock 19 which was my previous best all around pistol now sits in my safe...thanks to Sig.

For almost 10 years, I carried a G19 as my EDC. It was never my favorite, but it served its purpose. My buddy recently purchased a 365 SAS, and let me put a few through it for comparison. I liked the size and fit of the weapon, shot well (once I figured out the sights) and concealed very nice. But, still wasn't enough to make a a convert. Then, I rented a 365 XL with RDS. One hour and 100 rounds later, I walked out with my own 365 XL. It's been my EDC since.

I agree with you 100%. I went from the Glock 19. As I am thin and print easy, a 365 IWB is very comfortable. Reliabality-Great for me. Great vodeo thank you.

Just finished getting mine set up today after a few months of shooting it to get comfortable with it. Threw it in a Wilson Combat frame and put on a Holosun 507k. The WC frame isn't overly large, but definitely fills up the hand more than the stock sig frame. Both are great, but I prefer the ergo's of WC. Definitely takes my 365 XL up a notch.

I started shooting with using the P365 exclusively for a year. Now I can shoot it as good as any other full size gun. Good to see other shooters are experiencing the same skill ceiling.

All of my edc's have a safety. For years I carried M&P 40C with safety and then added a Shield in 9mm. But I shoot the P365 so much better. I'm not afraid of a striker fired with no safety. I'm just serious about safety. I've seen 3 negligent discharges. The reality is unless you are in law enforcement you are far more likely to have an ND than get into a gun fight. I try to prepare for one and prevent both.

I highly recommend the Magguts +2 kit to convert the XL 12 round mags to 14 round mags. I have had the XL for almost 2 years now and to have 14 in the mag and another in the chamber blows my mind that the gun is ready to go with 15 rounds in such a small package. Never a problem firing with the kit at the range either. This gun feels like my hand was used to design it for size, ergonomics, and control. On my small frame it is easy to conceal except for on the hottest days with certain outfits. Then I have a .380 for those circumstances. Otherwise, this is my everything gun. I always have it on me, and at night it is next to the bed for home defense (no kids in the house).

I never sell any of my guns, I don’t buy before I try, so I rent a gun if I really like it, I buy it. I have a safe full of guns mostly full size, my EDC is a Glock 48. I picked up a SIG 365X with a Romeo zero for $750. I replaced the Romeo zero with a Holosun 507k(green) a couple more SIG mags and a couple Magguts. I’m north of $1000 dollars for this EDC. Yes it was worth it! I should’ve saved some money and buy it without that Romeo Zero.

I like to put the safety on while holstering, then switch it off when it’s secured in the holster. If I need to draw in a defensive situation, it’s ready. But if I’m just at home getting dressed, I like to have the added safety. Even the safest people with lots of training can have a ND and I’m far from perfect, so I really like the safety.

Mike M I agree. Humans make mistakes and a trigger snag can happen when you least expect it. There are also folks with kids and kids will reach and pull things. I will only buy a striker pistol with a manual safety. The only autoloading pistol I own that does not have a manual safety is an Astra A-100 Spanish copy of a SIG P226. A DA/SA hammer pistol with only a decocker. There is that long heavy but smooth DA first shot so it would take a lot of force to pull a double action all the way through and it has an exposed hammer with visual and tactile confirmation of its condition. Revolvers with their DA are the same. Personally I practice with the manual safety sweeping it off on the draw and there is no time difference because I do not pause to take it off so its no big deal to me. Folks that don't like the manual safety don't have to use it but its there for those that do. I do carry a P365 manual safety for its size and capacity and I do shoot it well but my favorite CCW is a Bersa TPR9C. A DA/SA hammer with a manual safety/decocker. Time of year dictates which because of my thin body size. If I can though I will carry the TPR9C over the P365. Sub compact versus micro compact.

The Bodyguard in the summer. The Glock 19 in the winter. I retired both. The Sig P-365 does it all. If I need something smaller, I carry my North American Arms Wasp in .22lr.

So I was in the gun store and I finally got to try the P-365XL. I have to say that this gun is the best "feeling" gun in hand I've ever had the opportunity to handle. Also, the balance was "right" overall for me and the barrel length at 3.7" is what I'd consider right in line with what velocity necessitates. That's just an opinion of mine of course, nothing more. I am one of these American oddballs as well that likes the safety option. (Yes, I'm aware of aftermarket safety's for them) I've been using and carrying Glock's for 22 years already and yes, I still wish they'd make an option for a frame mounted safety from the factory like they'll do for their military contracts such as they did for the Brazilians. But, wish in one hand and %&^# in the other and see which fills up faster, right? Right. Thanks for the video.

The only safety type I’d ever consider is a 1911 type in which the thumb rides it as part of your grip as opposed to a control you have to flip off. From shooting competitions I’ve seen plenty of experienced shooters forget to flip off their safety when the buzzer goes off. The instance of this goes way down with one that’s part of your firing grip as opposed to an isolated control.

I just put a Wilson Combat on my 365 XL today and it's great. Well worth the upgrade to fill the hand a little more while still staying concealable. The only complaint I have seen is some people that carry AIWB have said the aggressive stippling on the back and front of the handle rubs their stomach a little and doesn't feel great.

Is the Wilson combat is little bigger in diameter in the grip? I had to put a rubber grip on my xl. Fits my hand much better, but my grip profile is now much fatter. I've thought about multiple layers of grip tape instead. I would love a slightly larger like my hellcat.

Depending on the size and type rubber grip you use, the diameter of the Wilson grip could easily replace in size your rubber grip.

While I feel that your review was thorough, I believe that you neglected a critical value behind the P365 with manual safety, even though you personify it. For those of us that grew up with the 1911, we were taught that when we weren't actually firing the pistol, the thumb safety was to be engaged. For those of us that alternate between a 1911 and a P365, it is invaluable to maintain the same manual of arms. There should not be a need to employ two different manual of arms. My muscle memory is such, that when my pistol is drawn from the holster, my thumb ALWAYS sweeps the safety off. When used properly, neither platform is more inherently safer than the other!

@@aleffel9668 I had one of the first runs upon their initial release. The reported problems with the firing pins, etc. prompted me to sell it. I always liked that pistol in hand and the fact I could pocket carry it. I cannot believe anyone would buy this gun after California deemed it unsafe and only let police buy such a dangerous weapon. It only becomes magically safe if you buy it second hand at 4 times the price in this state.

Great review, I do think the P365 is becoming the number 1 choice for EDC, my first EDC was a Smith & Wesson Shield, once I acquired the P365 the difference was obvious. I’ve put easily 2000 rounds through my P365 and never had a malfunction, it’s very accurate and those glow in the dark sites, awesome. I use the Lima laser, they’re expensive but they hold their zero well. I switched my standard grip module for the XL module and realize I had to modify my 12 round mags, I just did the magguts +2, these guns have to be the number 1 EDC in the country, everyone I know owns 1 😎

I appreciate your discussion on safeties, however, I think it should be emphasized more that being safer is not a "feeling" it is real. Of all of the thousands of AD's in the country every year, I would assume that 95% of them are firearms that do not have safeties. I think Glock has made firearms many, many times more dangerous by convincing people they did not need a safety. Mr Browning would be in total shock if he saw how we carry guns now. How many toddlers have been killed by a Glock? When reviewers tell their viewers that they do not "like" or "need" a safety, they are saying that they think it is ok to not care about safety. In other words, don't be afraid to say that guns with safeties are a LOT safer than one without. And also, a gun with an empty chamber is 100% safe and is accident free and will kill 0 toddlers.
