I now have 3,000 rounds through my 365. Love the weapon!!! I would love to buy another one with a safety--but that is me. I carry it in my front pocket with a sticky holster. Just a great little gun! I can roll out a target to 15 yards and as long as I hit it, I am happy. Try putting out a T shirt at 15 yards and see if you can hit it. Remember --no target drawn on shirt. You should be able to hit a vital organ someplace. Practice practice practice!

The striker drag does not affect the function of the pistol. Short compact and micro or sub compact pistols all have it. It is the nature of short pistols. The shorter the slide means shorter distance for the breech to unlock from the chamber. Faster unlocking. This pistol is a micro compact so the drag may show up more than a compact. There is a striker/firing pin return spring on the striker to pull the striker back but it does not do it quite fast enough. If I get 500 rounds through any new pistol with no problems its good to go. I have 481 rounds of various Federal ammo including FMJ Ball, HP, frangible HP, brass and aluminum cased and of those 300 rounds of aluminum cased in my P365MS. It has been flawless through all 481 rounds. It is now going into my carry rotation. I have heard of some extraction problems with Remington brass case rims beyond break in. I do not shoot steel cased but have not heard of any problems with that ammo. After the first 100 rounds most if any ammo problems should go away as the pistol breaks in. Thanks for sharing. Bought the P365 with a build date of May 10, 2019. Love it - fires great, easy to conceal , and fits my hands perfectly. I would say the only negative experience I've had so far is after firing the last bullet; the slide sometimes does not remain in the open position. That said, I liked the pistol enough that I then purchased the P365-SAS, which is my EDC now. Though I will say the target site that comes on the SAS is cool it seems that it's more difficult to pickup quickly. If you're using it in low light conditions it's really hard to see. I suppose I'll use the regular P365 for my evening piece and the SAS for daytime carry. Ha! I agree with most of the points you were making about the pistol and I have very little to complain about so far - I'm right around that 500 round mark for both guns and I'm pretty satisfied. If you're considering buying one of these; it's well worth the purchase, but I'd do a little more research on the SAS if you're considering buying one of those.

I've handled them a few times in the past. I was very interested in this pistol when they first came out. An then all of the failures started popping up. And then I fondled a few more at a gun show this passed weekend (5/5/19) where I saw several priced at $469 OTD. The gun feels and looks like a quality piece, and I also like the sights quite a bit. With the factory sights, size, capacity, overall fit and finish, this appears to be a great value. IF I could count on them to be reliable. With the very sketchy past, and Sig's refusal to come clean on the issue, it'll take a while before I'd be willing to trust my life to one... My personal opinion is that it's too soon to know if they've got the bugs worked out or not. I've seen several reports of failures with guns produced late 2018. I hope they do get it right. It's a great overall package, if... And it offers too much to not get it right and let it flop. Maybe in a year or two, we shall see...

Because the gun is so small, many people, including myself, tend to have the thumb resting on the slide release. Try adjusting your thumb so it doesn't ride the slide release. I had this problem along with many others, and that slight thumb adjustment took care of that problem.

I carry a Sig Sauer Full frame 45 cal P220 Nitron, single stack, OWB side carry. It's highly customized to the tune of about $1,800.00. Nothing better. So I was looking for a back up, defensive carry only, micro. Of course I looked at the Sig 365 over the counter. At the range last week I was able to rent a newer P 365 and bought 100 rounds 124 gr FMJ ammo. By chance right in the next lane a shooter was running his Glock 43. He was interested in trying the P 365 so we swapped pistols for 50 rounds. I am NOT a fan of "compound triggers" and anything having one is an automatic disqualifier for me. Would NEVER own anything with that "funky" trigger. Not to be rude - I agreed to the short exchange. WOW! The Glock was a completely different animal. It felt bulky, cheap, fat, and had that "creepy" trigger (I am pre biased against that funky trigger). After 50 rounds with that plastic monster, and getting the P 365 back, I purchased another 100 rounds and I did a "melt down"! 100 rounds non-stop (only one magazine so as fast as I could load it). No attempt at accuracy. It ate everything and was SMOKING HOT. Trigger felt WAAAY better than Glock. Fit and finish WAAAY better. Fit in my hand WAAAY better. Snappier and more recoil than the plastic monster, but overall the Sig was a MUCH better pistol. I was even more set against the Glock (first one I fired) and decided that Sig was for me. Great opportunity to compare both pistols side by side.

@@williamlezotte7954 , you must have a different model of P365 than I have. Mine has a polymer frame. Sig calls the bottom portion of the P365 the "grip" and you will see their website identifies the grip as polymer and the frame as stainless. To me, when you disassemble a semiautomatic handgun in preparation for cleaning, the first things you are left with are the slide and the frame. The SIg and the Glock leave you gripping a piece of polymer that houses the trigger, striker, and the stainless steel rails that the slide runs on. When you separate your P220 into two pieces in preparation for cleaning you are left holding an alloy frame and a stainless steel slide. Oh, and the alloy frame happens to have a pair of removable panels Sig calls 'grips'. Apparently Sig can't make up their minds what comprises a grip and a frame.

I bought the *Glock 43X.* I was going to get the G43 but the G43X was just released so for my XXL hands I changed to the longer grip. I shot it for 114 rounds and then very lightly cleaned it & lightly oiled it. After this I shot the G43X - 300 to 400 more times *without any cleaning.* *Report/Review of the Glock 43X* This is a very light, very reliable, accurate, and top concealed carry pistol. The one or two pluses that makes the Glock better for me over the SIG P365 and the S&W Shield (these are the top three (3) CCW guns in the USA). *1. Maintaining* - It is a Glock. This means it is easy to *completely* take apart piece by piece for detailed cleaning. Much more & easier than any gun on the market. l love this as I can do this myself and save time/money to totally clean it or if needed I personally can gunsmith my pistol. *2. Boring Reliability* - At an indoor gun range the small Glock shot all aluminum, brass, & even wolf steel cased fmj bullets without jamming. Not only was the Wolf *black box* 115 gr bullets reliable in the G43X but it was the most accurate of all the bullets. Yes, that was Russian Wolf - cheap & dirty stuff, WHhhhhhaaaaaaAT! I shot HST, Critical Defense, Federal Range & Defense Hollow points... all without jams or anything. *The SIG P365* Would have really bought the SIG P365 if it was reliable in the beginning. I was looking at it hard early on and then the "issues" started popping up with the SIGs - the P320 & the P365. Today's SIG P365 is "probably" reliable because of all the changes SIG, Inc. has done. But since *you don't ever get a second first impression*... I passed for safety concerns & I just don't want a CCW gun that maybe is good. No maybes for self-defense. That what I have experienced.

I think they have it fixed but you definitely can’t make a second first impression.. thanks for the comment!

@@outdoorsguy4 Thanks. Your review was one of the better type on any pistol (IMO). I only have one gun for CCW, the afore mentioned G43X. I might get another pistol for OWB and that would be a SIG P320. Will wait a while though to see if the P320 works out for the military. If not I will get the Glock 19X. Stay safe.

Hi, I just received mine with a built date of January 26- 2019 Took it to the range and had multiple failure to feed with federal HST 124 grain hollow points, the Only way to resolve the issue is pushing up on the bottom of the magazine and then the next round will feed. the magazines are also really hard to load without a loader, so the issues are not totally fixed need to send it back to SIG Update, I received it back from SIG they done some polishing of the feed ramp and also the trigger bar and some other magic. Took it to the range shot the same federal HST 124 grain hollow points about 30 rounds of it no failures of any kind also about 150 rounds of 124 grain mag tech FMJ.

Still issues with the Sig? I've been waiting to get the P365. And only defensive ammo I use are the 124 gr Federal HST or the Speer 124gr +P Gold Dot. I guess i'll wait another year and go with something else like the Glock. I really want to get this gun, but if issues still persists I don't bet my life on a gun that will fail to fire or jam when needed most.
@chadlacy5 жыл бұрын
Vegasus I haven’t had any issues with mine. I’d say Sig has worked out all the problems at this point. My comment about the grain of ammo was from articles I read about all short barrel handguns, not just the P365. It was stating that larger grain ammo worked better because these guns with short barrels have an extractor that engages much more quickly than the average handgun and the pressures from the larger grain helps. The Federal HST 124 is probably adequate because it is a +P round. I’m using the Federal HST 147. But Federal has also released a HST 150 marketed as for micro handguns. Likewise, Dig’ down ammo for the 365 is a 124. I’d just stay away from 115 personally.

IMO your review is spot on. In February I purchased a P365 with late January build date. I have just under 1K rounds through it without any failures. I have experienced failure to lock back after last round on several occasions but the cause is undoubtedly my thumb contacting the slide lock. Stiker drag is clearly evident on approximately 75% of shell casings, the range of drag being just barely visible to slightly less than than the casings shown in your video. I am amazed at how good the pistol feels in the hand and how well it shoots however, any failure to execute shooting fundamentals well will produce inaccurate results.

My april 2019 built p365 had a failure to battery malfunctuon on the 10th round I ever put through the gun. I pulled the trigger and only got a click. I looked down to inspect the weapon and noticed the slide wasn't going all the way forward so I reracked the weapon a couple of times to get the round in the pipe and everything was good from then on. I put about 200 rounds down range without an issue. I was using the 12 round mag and blazer 124 grain ammo. Should I be concerned and maybe contact Sig about this? Thanks

nice review, i've been on the fence about this gun for quite some time but im starting to see a more positive trend with recent reviews - i'd love to handle one before i buy, i have pretty large hands/long fingers, and from what i gather the firearm really is pretty small, i have a FNS 9C and i really don't think i could go too much smaller than that - do you know if SIG offers an extended magazine that could also be purchased - one thing i love about my 9C is the 17 round extended mag - during the day i use my 12 round mag for everyday carry then swap it out for the 17 round mag at night for my HD gun - kind of makes the best of both worlds for me :)

Is it safe to carry with a round in the chamber? Is there is a striker block in place until you pull the trigger?
@outdoorsguy44 жыл бұрын
glinden111 Yes it is safe. The gun can not fire a round in the chamber unless the trigger is pulled
@glinden1114 жыл бұрын
Thank you for contacting SIG Sauer. The P365 has internal safeties, designed to prevent the pistol from firing without pulling the trigger. The Striker Safety Lock locks the striker in the rear position until the trigger is pressed all the way to the rear. The Mechanical Disconnector disconnects the trigger bar from the sear when the slide is out of battery; so the trigger can be pressed but the striker will not be released. So, as long as the trigger is not pulled, the firearm will not fire.

I think most sub compact guns have primer drag. I have shot the xds and it has primer drag. From the videos that I have seen, lots of other guns have the same issue.
@outdoorsguy45 жыл бұрын
scott stephens You’re absolutely right. I noted it in the vid because the striker drag on the P365 can be excessive imo compared to other sub compacts and before Sig addressed the problem it was breaking strikers
@michaelc34165 жыл бұрын
@@outdoorsguy4 I agree. Striker drag induces a lot of stress on the tip of the striker. Stress fatigue induces cracking over time. It's inevitable. How much time does it take to reach the failure point of the part? That depends of the quantitative analysis of the stress, cyclical rate, amplitude, etc, as well as the design, shape, size, and metallurgical properties of the part, etc. And I know that they have redesigned the striker tip to better withstand this stress. Unfortunately, it's still an MIM part, and while I know that MIM is a good process for manufacturing many intricate parts, its original advantage was, and still is, as a cost saving measure. It's just less expensive to make certain parts with MIM than machining. And this increases with the intricacy of the part in question. The thing is, with a striker being relatively easy to design in a simple shape, the savings aren't huge compared to more complex parts requiring more complex machining operations. The grain structure of MIM will never equal that of high quality forged steel alloys. Can it be "good enough"? Depends on the task at hand, and a lot of variables in the manufacturing process. I guess Sig thought the original part was "good enough". They bet on it when they rushed the pistol to market with insufficient testing outside of their finite element analysis software . And lost.... Personally, I'd much prefer Sig to charge the extra $10 it would cost them to make a properly designed, machined, striker made of high quality tool steel that exceeds the stresses it will ever see by a large margin. And maybe do a bit more real world testing on their products before releasing them... I really do want this pistol to be good! I'd even go so far as to say that I hope it becomes good enough to retire my G43. Not sure that'll ever really happen, but a guy can dream...
@outdoorsguy45 жыл бұрын
Michael C A lot of good information there! I have to agree, I wish sig would have just stuck a quality part in there from the start to avoid all the commotion and give the gun a shaky reputation. Like you said, I am rooting for the P365 as well!

What makes this gun head and shoulders above the competition is the 12 round mag. I didn't watch every second of your review so maybe you talked about it and I miss it, but in your closing comments you specifically mention the 10 round mag and still nothing about the 12 round mag. The higher capacity in the small, slender package makes this an unbeatable 9mm for conceal carry.
