I really appreciate that you pick a side. So many reviews take a middle of the road approach and that doesn't help us. You say what you see as the differences and you make a choice. May not be my choice, but you pick a side and I admire that! Thanks for the great videos and hopefully soon you will do the Q5 vs G34 MOS vs TP9 SFx (especially interested in the SFx comparison to the Q5) Thanks again!

Thank you Mark! I no longer have the SFX on the channel (done testing), but I can tell you it's a good shooter for the money. One thing to note is that Canik has a major "voluntary" recall on it and several other models. May want to wait until the dust settles before looking at it. As for the other two, it's all in the grip. They are very different but both sweet shooters. I gravitate more towards the Glock simply due to rounds down range. They cost about the same. Thank you again and cheers!

Sig is unlikely to offer other sight plate options but springer precision has had them out for a month or so. So there is aftermarket support for other optics.

KSGunGuy 01 Both are great, the VP9 was not in my mind, I was waiting for the CZ P10c FDE, but when I shoot a friend of mine VP9, I liked a lot, the ergos are similar to the PPQ and the difference in size is just a hair. And for $565.00 with night sights and 3 mags, I just couldn't resist

I just got the Q5 Match. I have not shot a firearm in over 6 years. The first day I went to the Range with the Q5 Match they had some interesting Zombi targets. I put it up, the first shot in the Zombie’s left eye, second shot right Zombie’s eye, 3rd shot right in the forehead. I stoped and looked at the gun and though to myself, this gun is possessed.

As usual, great review! Ramble mode on: I have the Q5 match and the compact 320 RX. Actually, 2 different x-change kits with multiple barrels from 9mm standard and threaded, .357 Sig and .40 SW and about 14 different grips and a bunch of mags, so I have a lot invested in it. Yeah, the X series is a better pistol than the regular P320, but it is very similar. Here are a couple reasons that turn me off of the X series Sig: It doesn't come with suppressor height sights and you lose the rear sight when mounting a red dot -- same for the Q5 match. Also, you are losing one of the greatest parts of the P320 which is modularity of grip modules. The X series only come in black and they have a totally different grip than the regular P320 (which I love). So yes, you can use the X slide on regular P320 grips, but it's not the same gun. No balancing weight in the grip and a totally different feel. I've only been to the range once with my P320s and Q5. I shot both Sigs in 9mm first and shot better than I have ever shot in my life. Then I switched to the Walther for about 30 rds. and my results were worse, but that's most likely because I didn't spend enough time getting used to it, not to mention figuring out if the red dot was aligned properly. I just ran out of time. I need to spend more time lining up my red dot on the Q5, something that was simple with my RX because it had co-witness sights. It was dead-on from the beginning. I LOVE the Q5's trigger and looks. They are both great pistols!
@KSGunGuy016 жыл бұрын
Thanks TS! You have an awesome Sig collection from the sound of it. 14 grip modules is impressive! I agree, more time may help dial in the Walther and also lead to more fun at the range if nothing else. That said, I am a big Sig fan and really like the X series. Any time things can be different from the norm, I'm on board. Cheers brother!

@cory55255 жыл бұрын
In the market for a Q5 match. I had my ppq out last night at the indoor range and for me it always makes me look good. My ppq is my go to pistol. If someone broke into my home that would be the gun I would grab to protect my family. I own glocks, cz's, h&k, canik but I most often gravitate to my ppq. That being said i think if I had to keep one it would be my ppq. Thus, I am now looking for its bigger brother so I could slap a venom red dot on it and have some fun. Great video and quite often I agree with your picks. Happy Holidays

So, which models of the CZ brand do you own? Because I find it VERY hard to believe that you would grab your Q5 over a TSO, CZ 75 Shadow 2 Orange, or the Czechmate. You see, I also own the Q5, Q4, and a CZ 75 Shadow 2 Orange, as well as a Wilson Combat Supergrade and CQB Elite. And, as awesome as the Q5 and the Q4 are, there is no way I would EVER grab the Q5 over any of my CZs. The trigger on the CZs are superior, and the accuracy is almost unmatched by anything except for a premium 1911 by either Wilson Combat, Les Baer, or Nighthawk.

I have more time with my Q5 than all of my P320's. First I think the Q5 has an amazing trigger, and amazing ergo's. I love shooting it, and since I don't have a red dot, the lack of co-witness is a moot point for me. This is not to say I wouldn't mind adding yet another P320 to my trio. lol I would also go with the Q5, excellent review as always. Have a great weekend brother!

You'll be hard pressed to find a striker fired gun that will outshoot the walther ppq/p99 pistols. I like the p320 line as well, but I give walther the slight edge over the polymer sigs as well. Just bought a ppq 5" for cheaper than a glock with the rebate. Glad I did, I'm getting 1" groups with this gun at 25 yards. That's the best I've ever shot with any handgun. I have installed the Romeo 1 sight on my FNX 45 Tactical (without any adapter plate) and it turns out the Deltapoint 2 Pro, Trijicon RMR, and my Burris FF3 all have the same bolt pattern (with the Deltapoint being 1 mm too long for my slide cut out). So while many state that the X5 is only made for the Romeo 1, I don't see why the sights I have mentioned and others, would not bolt on. BTW, the Romeo 1 works great, co-witnesse perfectly, and has that big window (that fits that big slide well)! Lastly, I have shot both these guns and it will fall into the personal preference category to which to buy (still cannot make up my mind).

KSGG, do you have experience with the Glock 34? I was wondering how the Q5 compares to it in terms of shootability. I've heard it has snappy recoil, despite being a long slide gun. I'm curious. As you shoot do you notice a level of incline change or and angle change on your firearm? The reason I ask is because I notice with each shot you lean back more and more. If you watch your hat you notice with each shot if falls back more but your firearm stays. Your stance leans as you shoot. Either way great groupings but something to point out that you may be able to tweek and become a bullseye shot.

I love Sig. It's what's on my hip in the P938. However, I am a huge Walther fan and I have several including the Q5. The Q5 is an awesome gun and right out the box it's ready to rock. Mine is cresting 500 rounds now and the more I run, the more I like it. The only complaint I have is the switch to the thumb button mag release. In my opinion that was a mistake by Walther. Of course they had to bend to the pressure of the US market. Once you get the hang of the paddle release however, going back to the button is a step back. The paddle is, by design, fully ambidextrous. Honestly, I don't have trouble running either system and the Q5 is a great platform.

Great suggestion and thank you! I don't have a P09 on hand but I can tell you that both are great. They do things very differently, however, since the p09 is hammer fired versus the X5 that is striker. The XS is also more feature rich and more expensive. Cheers!

Hey KS! Another great "If I could only have one" episode! Love 'em both! I would love to own them both. I agree the winner is the Q5 Match. The only shortcoming is the magazines. A competition gun deserves more capacity. It's great that it comes with 3 mags, but they should have been all 17 rounders, like the 2 they include with the Q4 TAC. The Q5 screams top notch ergos and trigger. The big plus is that you can choose your own reflective red dot. The sights are an improvement over the PPQ's and will work. Love the feel in hand in terms of quality. Great pistol that can serve a variety of purposes. They're both great pistols in their own right.

What do you think of the aftermarket trigger options for the Q5? At the moment there appear to be two options: one from Springco, which reduce the trigger draw weight and safety plunger spring tension (improves take-up ease and smoothness) and an Apex flat face trigger kit that reduces draw length and reset distance.
@KSGunGuy016 жыл бұрын

Yes, I am in the market for a comp gun and have been looking at the G34 MOS and the Q5 but recently have seen the TP9 SFx and am very interested in seeing how those three stackup. Much more affordable options to someone just getting into competitive shooting than buying a 1911 or the X-Five. If I am going to spend that would look at a CZ 75 Comp pistol that I have heard nothing but positives about.

I agree with you. The Walther is far better than the SigSauer P320-X5. I own both guns and I have realized that the P320-X5 tends to shoot about a foot higher than aimed. I had to use this gun in a competition IDPA match and in order to be accurate I had to aim a foot lower to be on IDPA center circle. At that time I didn't own the Walther Q5 Match at the time of the competition.

Thank you for sharing! I have to say, it's the first time I've heard someone say that the X Five shot high. I wonder if the rear sight was broken. Most people have to set the rear sight as high as it will go because the X Five usually shoots very low. Maybe they re-engineered the sight cuts in later models? Cheers!

I had the Q5 match I traded it back to the gun store, it was just a bit too light for me I tend like/gravitate toward heavier pistols..I bought the Blue Moon X5 ((Googly Eyes)) 34OZ I believe.

Rebate? Figures, I just bought a Q5 match recently. GREAT gun! I also have a couple of P320 compacts, one of them being the RX model with the ROMEO1 red dot. Edited to add: I just checked Walther's website and the Q5 match is not eligible.

Nice! Take out the magwell of the Sig, though. That way we're comparing guns that play in the same division (production). I think that's the fairest way to compare guns: make them both competition division-compliant.
@MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry3 жыл бұрын
They are both competition guns. You are aware of that, right? I own both of them. I also own the CZ 75 Shadow 2 Orange, the TSO, and a Wilson Combat Supergrade, CQB Elite, chambered in .45 ACP. All of those are competition guns.
@archerpride3 жыл бұрын
@@MichaelGrubbEvolvedMinistry of course I know they are both competition guns. But, splitting hairs, the mag well on the Sig disqualifies it for production / carry optics, where the Walther Q5 match plays in. Do you compete in big matches, sir? The big ones where you must first pass equipment check before you are eligible to compete? If you do, you understand what I'm talking about. There are different divisions guns can compete in. My TSO and TS2 compete in standard, so of course they are both IPSC fit box compliant. My Shadow 2 competes in production division, so it has no mag well, has a DA trigger pull greater than 5 lbs, has a barrel less than 127 mm, and is on the IPSC approved production gun list. It's like race cars. A Subaru WRX STI, a Mercedes F1 open wheel car, an Audi R18 LMP, and an Aston AMR GT3 are all race cars. But you'll never see them race against each other, simply because they run in different race divisions. You can't show up in a rally race with an F1 car. The F1 car is of course a race car, but it was not made for rally racing.

@@archerpridehow is it not production when it comes factory on the pistol? Mine came just like this and I did nothing to it. I guess I don’t understand what you’re trying to say, is it not permissible in competition?
@archerpride11 ай бұрын
@@ShittyCut production division rules specifically prohibit magwells. Even if it comes from the factory that way. Some models of the Laugo Alien and the Walther Q5 SF come factory-standard with msgwells which must be removed before being production legal. Production doesn't always mean it's a go as long as it comes from the factory. Your Sig probably came with 17 or 20 rd mags but you can only load 15 (IPSC) or 10 (USPSA) for production.

Walther Q5 Steel frame is much better than the X5 Legion. I own both. I think you're saying X5 because you own one and you are simply adding reinforcement to the money you spent...which is fine. But, when you actually own both guns, you see and feel the difference immediately. The X5 legion is an amazing pistol though. it just isn't as good as the Walther.

Loved the vid! After waiting 4 freaking months and still no P320 x5 I ordered, I cancelled and went with the Q5 match. I think I will do just as well as the so called “purpose built” x5. I am not going to be burdened by Sigs Remington -like trajectory, whether it be the need for the voluntary trigger recall or the P365 debacle of late. Walther is a great gun. Your point about the optic is spot on. I have a Romeo 1 on my Canik, coincidentally the one I ordered to go with the x5 when it came. Canik gives you adapter plates, as it should be. Romeo dialed in is a fantastic optic, dead nuts. However, now again with the Walther I’m free to choose my own optic. F Sig and their BS. I’m done, they won’t see another dime of my money. I’ll look at Leupold or Vortex for my optic I think.

you will not find a better trigger on a striker fired pistol over the ppq q5 match! I caved a bought one and it immediately became my favorite striker i have owned and up there with sig p220 tacops when compared to hammer but at under 700 bucks! I have never been able to shoot 2 inches at 20 yards previously or shoot 10 rounds in an inch at 10 yards prior to this q5! the trigger leads to that and great ergos! I agree strongly with his choice. shit I would carry or even use as a gtw !!! and that makes no sense but its just how amazing the gun shoots. I love that walther makes them pass a 5 shot in under 2 inch at 25 meters before they send them out also! they send you the target as well as the person who signs off. bonus= its in German lol. most people don't known this but fn does the same. 5 - 5 shot groups for ars or scars have to shoot under an inch at 100 meters before they get signed off and shipped out. sorry off topic but walther makes great firearms! the only thing I wish was better is actually the reset. I love a super short reset haha but its not bad by any means. when you are used to a geissele sd3g reset these feel like a lifetime of waiting haha

I own both and the XFive feels much more in terms of quality. I like the grip weight for balance. The Walther is kinda rattly even. The Sig is the winner in my opinion. Downside is the sig plate only being for romeo 1.
@KSGunGuy016 жыл бұрын
Thank you for sharing Yamaha! The Sig is awesome indeed. I do agree that it would have been nice to have plates for multiple red dots. Cheers!

Agreed. I have been shooting with a Q5 in Carry Optics Division but picked up a X5 and shot it today. The Q5 is an awesome pistol but the X5 is a different beast. It is well balanced, does not rattle (the Q5 rattles like a rattle snake although it does not affect the accuracy) and its slide has some serious lightening work done inside the slide. I think that SIG has done some really great engineering on the X5. The Romeo 1 is a great glass. I have been using a DPP but I do not mind using the Romeo 1 on the X5. It will sit lower without the plate. A week ago, at one Area Championship, I ran into Max Michelle and we talked a bit. He looked at my Q5 and said "try the X5. You may like it". A week later, SIG got my money lol
@emkay29036 жыл бұрын
Oh, crazy thing about the X5 package, though, is that they say it is ready for competition. Well, all four magazines failed on the mag gage and the factory trigger is sh*t. I am spoiled by the trigger on my Q5 (the Apex with the spring kit from Sprinco = 2.75lbs) :(

I think the Sig out shot the Walther, and I noticed you shot the Sig much faster than you shot the Walther. If you had taken the extra time shooting the Sig the grouping would have been even better than it was. Even so, I think the Sig groups were better than the Walther.
