I saw Another older video of this artisan making different arrows. Same process only now his workflowlooks more refined. Its a real pleasure to watch. And the English subtitles helps alot. Thank you for sharing this.

I make my own bamboo arrows and they suck in comparison to his, not to mention the speed at which he works! But as long as they're straight and fly I'm gonna keep doing it, it's very relaxing, especially since I had to start growing my own bamboo for this, another excuse to go outside :v

You are an artist as well as a master at your craft. It is interesting to me that your style of arrow is so similar in many ways to the Native American ways. So many small things go into crafting the perfect arrow for hunting, for sport, and for defense.

The man who makes the flight and attaches it to the shaft is called a Fletcher and the man who makes the arrow head and attaches it to the shaft is called an arrowsmith

오래전 어릴때 우리집 뒷산에 국궁장이 있었는데 정말 자주놀러 갔음 활과 화살 만드는 주인 아저씨 설명도 잘해졌고 너도 한번 만들어 볼래 하든생각이 남 ㅋㅋ 그당시에도 물소 뿔은 수입한다고 했음 ㅋㅋ 시간과 정성이 무지무지 들어가는 작업

Somenthing I tell anyone getting their first set of bamboo arrows is to spin them and learn what a truly straight arrow sounds like. For one thing, they will have to straighten their arrows from time to time. Knowing what a straight arrow sound like is a must.

i use western red cedar, mallard feathers and none of these techniques. i put a lot in to each arrow though

현대 과학문명의 기술이 들어간 요즘 만드는 활과 화살 말고, 전통적인 활과 화살에 관한 한 우리의 것이 세계 최고 수준인 듯. 그 재료를 보나, 제조 과정을 보나... 과연 弓의 민족 다움.

Pseudosasa japonica - Japanese Arrow Bamboo. The Korean variety is similar or the same.

@@usnchief1339 Actually, while the same species grows in both Japan and Korea, the Korean plants tend to be stronger given that they have to withstand harsher conditions, one being wind.

A great artisan! But I'm curious about the fletching. He says the arrow sins in flight as do the arrows of Native American make. But that fletching is of the wing feathers of turkeys and each arrow must have fletching from the same wing. Must the same apply to pheasant feather fletching?

Of the dozen of so sets of bamboo arrows and about 200 arrows I've had the last 20 years, all the arrows in any set have come from a particular wing be it right or left, that is all the arrows in one set had left wing feathers while another set were all right wing. Left or right wing arrow, it doesn't make any difference in the arrow's flight.
